The title given to a ninja that appears, often inexplicably, in a Thomas Hardy novel or Shakespeare play.
The term was coined in the early 21st century by English Literature students.

JULIET: Rome, Rome, wherefore art thou, Romeo?
Suddenly, and rather inexplicably, a Geddes drops onto the balcony and slices Juliet in half, before disappearing into the night
