Ctrl+Alt+Del

Ctrl is the Control key.
Alt is the Alt key.
Del is the delete key. (For Mac users who don't have a backspace key, it's the one under the help key, or below the F13-15 keys).

Control Alt Delete was created by Microsoft to make sure that you weren't sending your user name and password to a website. It was also created to fix crashed applications and force-reboot your computer. They had to do this, probably, because nothing worked.

Ctrl-Alt-Del can never be used by a website to enter your password, exactly Microsoft's point. If you send your password to another website, they can eventually hack into your computer and delete/add/make virus files. Not good.

Fortunately for Mac users, Ctrl-Alt-Delete is not required, mainly because 1. There are two Delete keys, and 2. There is no alt key. (Actually, there is an alt key, but it is in the option key too, so technically it is not the Alt key.) Also, the Macintosh is almost imposible to hack thanks to its Unix structure and secure operating system

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to begin.
Pushing Ctrl+Alt+Del again will reboot your computer, losing all of your unsaved data.

alt key

The key used on Windows for numerous reasons.

1. For simple access to menu items. Why did they make the mouse then?
2. For simple access to widgets, or window items. Once again, a complete use of no mouse.
3. To make special characters. By holding down Alt, typing a number on the number pad, and letting go of alt, you can create little e's like é, or a's like å, or so on. Unfortunately, this is a blatant copy of the Macintosh operating system BUT in a much more confusing interface. Once again, for example, pushing option-e then e on the Mac gives you é. On windows... i don't even know the combination. It's too confusing.
4. Used in the ominous key command Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

1. Press Alt-F for the File menu.
2. Press Alt-G to change the option.
3. Press Alt-156 for some strange character.
4. Duh.
