An unreasonable philosophy usually developed through puberty in adolescent males, that one may never be truly happy with their lives without a significant other.
This tends to manifest faster and more severely in those who have been rejected by a romantic interest a significant amount of times, and those who find themselves isolated in an environment where âeveryone elseâ seems to have a partner.
This syndrome hammers in the absolute âneedâ for an s/o, so much that the subject finds it even more difficult to, ahem, *obtain* one, due to its side effects of obsessive behavioral patterns.
Usually the subject may grow out of this philosophy and focus on bettering themselves rather than just getting a date with someone. But if it doesnât, usually because of the neglect of a friend or family member to address it, this syndrome germinates into a sense of entitlement to an s/o, morphing the subject into a Nice Guy.
A: Life sucks, man. If only I had a girlfriend.
B: Dude, stop acting like you need one.
A: But I do!
B: No you donât, man. Seems like youâve got a bad case of Single Syndrome
