It has been speculated that they pursue this appellation because they are unable to compete in arenas of actual merit, and so have rebelled against the established standards to create their own uniquely emetic mixture of atrocious music and popular appeal.

Kingsport

A smallish city in NE Tennessee that consistently smells like hot chemical farts, because it is home to Eastman Chemical Company.

Man, you can tell by that smell that we're in kingsport.

Johnson City

A city in NE Tennessee where people in the Abingdon/Bristol area go to find the stores and restaurants that everywhere else in the country has. It is often affectionately referred to as "Jesus City" or "the City of Johnson."

You know if you want to buy that we're going to be making a trip to Johnson City.

bristol

A small city which is divided over SW Virginia/NE Tennessee via State Street. It has a NASCAR track, and thus is the bane of many existences for a few weekends a year, because out of town race people are crazy drivers, rude customers and frequently drunk in public.

Residents frequently complain of there being nothing to do there, but this is only because they don't live in any of the surrounding towns.

Quit your bitching. Bristol is where Abingdonians go to have fun.
