Metropolitan Statistical Area
In the USA this refers to an urban cluster (continuously built up area,) or clusters of 50K people of more each, the county it (or they) sit in, as well as the counties (or townships in New England) where significant numbers of people commute to and from that county. It includes urban (high density,) suburban (lower density,) and exurban (rural nonfarm) areas, as well as farmland.
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA)
Definition: Geographical divisions, determined by the United States Office of Management and Budget, for the purposes of census data and other urban population calculations. The divisions are primarily based on urban areas, and tend to follow town or county borders. The MSAs can also be broken down into smaller “Metropolitan Divisions.” Previously called Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA).

smaller than a village - larger than a wide spot in the road, a hamlet usually has considerably less than 200 people and is usually tied to agriculture (although many housing subdivisions could loosely be described as hamlets, especially when incorpirated and containing a minimal number of people).
A hamlet can either be dispersed (particularly in the USA), or clustered (see urban).
It is often located at the crossing of two minor thouroughfares (at a crossroads). Most intentional communities, if not a village and and not tied into the fabric of a larger entity, could be described as hamlets.
The documentary film "Rabbit Hash - Center of the Universe" was about an old and remote river hamlet which contains a small art colony on the western end of the Kentucky portion of the Cincinnati Ohio metropolitan area (near another hamlet called Big Bone) that elected a dog for mayor, not once, but twice! The First dog was named Goofy.
Eucla is a hamlet of around 50 people that serves as a regional centre for the Nullarbor Plain of Australia.

A conformist in everything they do. A person who is obsessed with sports, sex (among the High School and College set in particular, but some may not be at all) and Motor vehicles. They listen to whatever everyone else is listening to (especially if it is Country Music, Classic Rock, Nickleback, Limp Bizkit or rap/Hip Hop in the case of many younger philistines), wear whatever everyone else is wearing, and avoid anything that is in the least bit unusual, unique, or eccentric. They tend to have little to no use for art, be of limited intelligence, be obsessed with such things as NASCAR, golf, Hunting and Fishing, and tend to drive gas guzzling vehicles like SUVs and Extended cab Pickup Trucks. They are the fuel behind reality television. They love ATVs and all the damage they cause to the land. They could care less about the environment, only recycle if they feel a significant profit is to be made, and think that by keeping everything cut (grass, brush etc, ignorant of the fact that the plants that they are leaving are invasive) and throwing everything in the trash that they are helping the environment.
They are ignorant of geography and will generalize an entire region under the identity of a single city eg Paramount's King's Island being in "Cincinnati", Disney World being in "Orlando", Coral Castle being in "Miami" and Tybee Island being in "Savannah".
No capability of thinking outside the box or any other sort of critical thinking for that matter.

So my point is, when people immigrate from Mexico to the USA (EEUU), whether legally or illegally, they are oftentimes just returning to the land that they had always occupied, millenia before Columbus or Leif Erikson

A neighborhood of Paducah Kentucky that serves as it's Art's district. It borders downtown to the southwest. Thanks to the Artist Relocation Program, artists from places as far as Hawaii, San Fransisco and Paris France have settled there givinig the city of Paducah hope of having a rennaisance.
