The Fragrance of Afghanistan

Marijuana; or, the distinctive scent of marijuana.

Wreathed in smoke in Lebanon, we burn the midnight oil.

The fragrance of Afghanistan rewards a long day's toil.

Pulling into Kathmandu, smoke rigs fill the air.

Perfumed by a Nepal night, the express gets you there.-Rush, A Passage to Bangkok.

Mexistential Crisis

The feeling a Mexican who has lived in the US for many years gets when they finally save enough money to retire back to their hometown in Mexico, but then they realize their children are Americanized and will stay living in the USA forever.

I came to the US at age 15 with nothing and worked hard labor and construction for 40 years, breaking my back and sending all my money to my family back home in Michoacan. I finally saved up enough to build a house and retire back in my hometown. I am finally able to live the life I always wanted for myself growing up. I finally made it! I took my teenage kids out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant to celebrate and they ordered corn dogs and spoke to the waiter in English. Talk about a Mexistential Crisis... (sigh).

Reasonable Friend: "That's borderline racist given most Muslims are not white."
Person 1: "How can it be racist if Islam isn't a race?"
Reasonable friend: "Fair point; I guess you're just a praycist."
Person 1: "If you say 'praycist' then people are going to think you're saying I'm racist."
Reasonable friend: "How can it be racist if it's a different word?"
