ghosting

The act of deliberately and usually suddenly ceasing all communication with a subject - ghostee, most often an intimate partner, with whom the ghoster does not wish to keep dating. Could be non-romantic as well, may include avoiding the person on the street, refusing to take their calls or reply to their messages, changing work without telling them, blocking them on facebook or other social media.

A: Are you just going to be ghosting Jane?
B: No, I am an adult and I can make choices for the better of my own future, be it emotional or material, hence the decision to ghost Jane by not answering her calls or calling her back, while focusing on other, more productive activities than dating her or meeting with someone more pleasant. I realize that me explaining to her why I don't like her will not be taken seriously, so I just prefer to spare myself the extra bit of humiliation, especially from her annoying friends.
