Alexis is a common girls name in the u.s. and a boy's name in countries such as russia where it is seen as masculine. The name is based off of the greek name Αλεξις (alexis) which was derived from the greek word αλεξω(alexo) which means to defend and help. Alexis is also the name of my 10 year old little sister. I don't like her. Alexis is a selfish girl who doesn't share her animal crackers. No one likes alexis
