Gender Deaf

Where you only hear a person by some auditory means but can’t see them in person and you can’t identify their gender by how they sound. Could be because you weren’t paying attention or because the sound of the persons voice was especially feminine but his name was John. Could also be intentional so as to not offend someone by assuming they are a certain gender just by the sound of their voice.

Larry: Hangs up phone.
Jim: “Who was that?”
Larry: “It was a salesperson.”
Jim: “Was it a man or woman?”
Larry: “ I don’t know, I’m gender deaf.”
