adj â slang: military phonetic alphabet for letters âtâ and âuâ, used as euphemistic abbreviation for âtits upâ.
etymology: from military aviation, where the flight attitude indicator on the aircraft instrument panel contained a miniature representation of an airplane which showed the flight attitude â climb, dive, bank; one style of the indicator was shaped with âvâ forms between the âdotâ â representing the fuselage (body) and the âdashesâ â representing the wings; (âv*vâ see illus.) the âvâs were frequently referred to as âtitsâ; the term referred to the potentially hazardous inverted flight condition â âupside downâ â where the âtitsâ would be seen as being âupâ.
