Short term used for when someone breaks rule #5 of the girl code:

5) You are never in any case to date a friends ex or a guy who she was really into.

Exception: If he's one of those guys who every girl likes.

Jill: I can't believe Amanda's going out with Jack! I totally called him 4 weeks ago! And even worse, Amanda was my best friend!
Jill's Friend: Wow, I can't believe Amanda would just pull a #5 on you like that.

Reference to a subtraction of "poince" in life caused by failure of some sort.

Brought about in 2008 on the forum Fazed by Soreign hofing himself and ladyA taking 5 poince from him.

Continually applies to all forms of failure.

In voice procedure (the techniques used to facilitate spoken communication over two-way radios) a station may request a report on the quality and strength of signal they are broadcasting. In the military of the NATO countries, and other organizations, the signal quality is reported on two scales; the first is for signal strength, and the second for signal clarity. Both these scales range from one to five, where one is the worst and five is the best. The listening station reports these numbers separated with the word "by". Five by five therefore means a signal that has excellent strength and perfect clarity -- the most understandable signal possible.

Five by five by extension has come to mean "I understand you perfectly" in situations other than radio communication, the way Loud and Clear entered slang, post-WW2.

It is sometimes used as slang term to mean "everything is good". The character "Faith" from the "Buffy The Vampire" TV series used it this way.

Sometimes also used in athletic training.

A radio operator would ask: "Radio check -- how am I coming in?" A responder could say; "You are coming in 5 x 5 (5 by 5)". (This means that your signal strength and clarity are both 5 out of a 1-5 scale, where 5 is the best strength and clarity.)

Or, as slang:
A person would ask; "How are you doing?" The responder could say; "I'm 5 x 5." (5 by 5, meaning I'm doing/feeling great.)

-5 to 5 Scale

The -5 to 5 is a more logical rating scale than 1-10 having negative convey repulsion and positive convey attraction. It also has 11 choices instead of 10 and is useful in getting an honest rating without the baggage of the 1-10 scale.

-5 Extremely Repulsed, would not touch with a 10 foot pole
-4 Very ugly, but you are able to resist the urge to throw up in your mouth
-3 On the very ugly side no doubt but not the ugliest you've ever seen
-2 Definitely not good looking, maybe fat
-1 Not naturally blessed and maybe has a crooked nose or some defect
0 Neutral; No Opinion
1 Not very attractive, but not completely useless to look at
2 Decent looking but someone you are not very interested in
3 Very Attracted, you definitely think this person is attractive
4 Super attractive, but not quite the perfect person for you
5 Extremely Attracted, your type in every way

"Hey bro rate that girl on the -5 to 5 Scale."
"Ehh id give her a 2 shes not bad but i'm not really into her"
