bias wrecker

Say you have a favorite person in a group (bias), and then you see another member of the group that makes you turn your head away from your bias, place the two members as equals, switch position of liking, or start questioning who your bias is.

Insert Name Hey, who is your Monsta X bias? Mines is Kihyun.
Y/N It has to be Hyungwon.
Insert name Oh my God, look at these funny moments of Minhyuk. Wait who was your bias again? Sorry I was watching this and stopped listening.
Y/N Uh... I don't really know.

In that scenario, bias wrecker is Minhyuk.

Russian Bias

When analyzing the effectiveness of vehicles of the same tier in War Thunder, a popular WWII vehicle shooter game, one will find an unusually high amount of effectiveness in Russian vehicles, particularly in the mid to high tiers. This has led some to believe that gaijin (the Russian company that made War Thunder) biased it on purpose.

Player 1: KV2 sniped me from across the map... Russian bias...
Player 2 (the one who sniped player 1): xaxa

Nostalgia Bias

When your nostalgia makes you act stupid. Usually hate whatever is new and prefer the old version just because of nostalgia.

Person 1: "Dude, the original GTA was the bomb. GTA V sucks"
Person 2: "You're nostalgia biased"

Person 1: "Omg, Dragon Ball Z was so much better than Super!"
Person 2: "Reason?"
Person 1: "Because I watched it when I was a kid! Plus it's just better"
Person 2: "Nostalgia Bias"

Letter Bias

Higher Education's practice of hiring Ph.D.s with little or no practical, real world experience, to educate over more qualified Masters and sometimes Undergraduate candidates. It can extend to less than doctorate degree holders having a "terminal" degree, such as a M.F.A., M.A. or M.B.A., over a M.S. degree holder. Even though a M.S. is a preparatory degree for a Ph.D. and contains a research component, many full time temporary and adjunct faculty members are consistently overlooked for promotion due to an "old boys club" type hiring philosophy from search committees, deans and provosts. Terminal degree holders are not immune to this type of discriminatory hiring practice either.

"I know we have a robust staff of full time temps. I know they are a safe bet for success and have been there for us, but we need a Ph.D. for accreditation," is an example of Letter Bias. Also, "they continue to teach 5 classes a semester, if we hire them tenure track we will have to work them less and pay them more, let's just get a Ph.D. it will look better anyway," is an example of Letter Bias.

follower bias

When someone thinks a tweet/instagram post/etc is better than it really is simply because the poster has +10x more followers than they do.

That Rob Delaney tweet wasn't even funny, but he still got 2000 RTs. Total follower bias.
