Metalhead

Noun; A person into any form of heavy metal music.

Here are some types of metalheads:

Bob The Metalhead: Listens to mainstream metalcore and maybe some deathcore. Fans of more obscure genres act like he just ate their entire family.

Zack the Metalhead: Listens to black or death metal and think’s he’s the most cool and edgy person to ever exist. Yeah, those Mayhem PJs sure are threatening…

Gary the Metalhead: Listens to stuff like grunge and nu metal that went out of fashion decades ago. Doesn’t give two shits about what Zack thinks of him.

Peter the Metalhead: “I only listen to (insert obscure sub genre of an already obscure metal genre here), everything else is for posers!”

Margaret the Metalhead: Listens to metal from the 70s and early 80s religiously and thinks Black Sabbath is the best thing since sliced bread.

Carl the Metalhead: Listens to what he likes and isn’t an elitist asshair to others.

Metalhead conversation:

Zack: Name a metal band.
Gary: Limp Bizkit.
(Zack explodes in rage)

metalhead

Explicitly, a metalhead likes metal music. A metalhead will travel if they have to, to see their heroes preform. The roadtrip is not a defining feature, but does demonstrate the level of commitment a metalhead has and is an essential element to almost any movie about metalheads. Metalheads recognize that jazz flute is not a an element of metal music and therefore does not recognize Jethro Tull as a metal band. Metalheads recognize that clothes are just clothes, but will beat down the kid in the pit who is wearing a Jethro Tull or Justin Beiber tee. All metalheads hate Justin Beiber especially and recognize him as everything that is wrong in the world. Metalheads have made a life long commitment to the genre and once they give up metal (very few do) completely, only then are they no longer metalheads. The metalhead lifestyle does require concert attendance or else you are either a closet metalhead or a lapsed metalhead. Concerts are like the metalhead church. Concerts are defined as at least a band playing metal music and any number of people listening. Finally, a metalhead recognizes the pirchfork/devilhorn hand gesture as the official metalhead blessing and knows that the forks are the creation of the metal pioneer, Ronnie James Dio, rest his soul.

That metalhead dude never misses a Slayer show if its within 100 miles of him. He will take time off of work and make personal sacrifices to make it there.

Metalhead

A free thinker, who listens to Metal for what it is, who may or may not choose to accentuate his attire with things associated with metal, may meld into any other music culture/subgenre, as metal does not judge, it simply is, and is awsome. Metal is constantly disputed, what is true metal ect, as much as Goth and punk, metals cousins, but for those who wish to claim to be metal, you better be ready to step up if your metal is challenged.
Metalheads are usually intelligent, but then again, all genre's say that don't they? metalheads come off as aggressive, violent, and usually are in a musical way. Metalheads are less likely to shoot you than a rapper
And I will slap the shit out of the next person to say Nu metal is not metal!!!

I am the king of the mosh pit, do not question my Metal, or be crushed by the fury, of raw Metal.
I am the definition of Metalhead.

metalhead

- Non-conformists
- Hates on everything that isn't metal
- Constantly argues over what real metal is on forums.
- Considers themselves musical einsteins and people who don't listen to metal idiots.
- believes they are better than everyone
- calls non-metal fans faggots
- can't take criticism therefore beats up anyone who criticizes metal music
- thinks they are the koolest kids in the block

I have nothing against metal and metal listeners, just those asshole metalheads.

Example #1:
Metalhead: METAL IS THE ONLY REAL MUSIC EVER. GGGRRRAAAWWWRRRR! EVERYTHING ELSE IS BULLSHIT!

Me: *Shoots Metalhead*

Example #2:
Metalhead: Why do people keep judging metalheads? We are normal people just like everyone else. We hate being judged. How'd you like it when you get judged?! Huh? Stop stereotyping us for christ's sake.

*Guy wearing Green Day t-shirt passes by*

Metalhead: *points at greenday fan* LOL FAG!

Me: *Shoots metalhead*

Example #3:
Metalhead: OMG insert band name here got popular, I better hate them now.

Me: *Shoots metalhead*

Metalhead

Some are probably nice but I've already stereotyped them as 'pretentious'. Sorry.

I knew some metalhead at school who was quite pretentious. Not a very nice fella, I found out he had issues. He'd always make fun of your music taste if it didn't match his. Twat.

Metalhead

A person who listens to metal music. Almost all metalheads are white and male, although they can of course be any race or gender.

One common feature of almost all true metalheads is a disdain for "fake metal" genres, that are often considered to be metal by the rest of society, such as nu-metal (e.g. Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park), metalcore (e.g. Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Bullet for my Valentine) and screamo (e.g. Alexisonfire, The Used, Underoath). Metalheads tend to consider such genres immature, referring to them as "mallcore". Metalheads usually hate to be erroneously associated with these types of music. Metalheads also hate to be associated with goths.

Other common features among metalheads tend to be black clothes, long hair, beards, tattoos, piercings and band tees. However most metalheads agree that it is not fashion, but passion for music, that defines a metalhead.

Drugs are not integral to metalhead culture, though the vast majority drink alcohol and a lot also smoke weed, while a smaller number do harder drugs.

Metalheads tend to be very intelligent people, with a lot actually being quite nerdy. They're generally not violent, except when moshing (an aggressive form of dancing) at concerts.

At British universities, metalheads tend to congregate at so-called "Rocksocs". That is to say, "Rock Societies" or "Rock and Metal Societies".
