When attending a training or conference, and whenever the speaker says something, the crowd nods knowingly and approvingly in unison.
It's a way to appear engaged without learning a god damn thing because nothing of substance is being offered.
The speaker goes on thinking he has made a difference, and the crowd goes home feeling like they are a part of something bigger.
Dan sat thru another wasted day at the conference. Realizing when he left, all that got accomplished was a handful of nonprofit nods to make everyone feel good.
To be greeted in the usual way by an inhabitant of the stinky shithole south Derbyshire Town of Swadlincote - Headbutted.
Similar to Glasgow Kiss, but less Scottish/Ginger.

used to recommend the said action to someone else who is clueless as to what a third party is talking about. It is usually insulting to the first party.
Person 1: Oh man, the Teletubbies concert was rockin' last night!
Person 2: (silence, confusion)
Person 3: (to person 2) "Dude, just smile and nod."
Person 2: (Does so accordingly)

To nominate someone. But put in modern terms, it is to be overly pretentious, thinking hollywood award show nominations mean anything to the regular joe.
Kevin Spacey is such a stellar actor. I am not surprised he got the nod from the academy.

the point between being awake and being asleep, where you start to go to sleep, then catch your self, causing you to nod your head. when this happens over and over you are in the land of nod. it is really fun to watch someone while they are in the land of nod.

The action of passing in and out of consciousness when someone takes enough, or too much depressant class drugs. Often a state purposefully attempted by the downer class user for the euphoria it envokes. Resembles passing out from not enough sleep. Can be dangerous if one passes out and stops breathing, or chokes on their vomit while unconscious.
Brian: Jimmy was so high this morning after his breakfast shot of heroin, he ended up nodding out into his breakfast meal of pancakes, and got syrup all over his face.
