Nu-metal

Nu-metal is a non- existant sub-genre of metal. Though common cited as a "genre" it is merly a segregation between the larger family of metal.

Nu-metal is classified by it's heavy, downtuned guitar riffs, complementary bass riffs, and unique drumming/pecussion style.

Nu-metal comes under fire constantly because of it's "simple" guitar riffs, angry singing/screaming style, and the appearance of it's bands.

These arguements are very closed minded and ignorant, however. Those who complain about the simple guitar riffs fail to elaborate on how this is detrimental to the actual music: the repetitive arguement is that the guitarist fails to show any talent, but music isn't about the band, it's the sound they make. That is a fact, as any self respecting band of any genre will tell you that. There is also the arguement that "all the bands sound alike". This is true, but is just as common in other musical genres. For example, the nu-metal band "Limp Bizkit" can be closely compared to the band "Reveille". However, you can also say that Jack Johnson sounds similar to Jason Mraz, and AC/DC sounds like Guns N' Roses, and Green Day sounds like Sum 41 and so on. Every genre has bands that sound alike, because they are a genre! They are the same kind of style!

People, open up your eyes! Music is for everyone! There is no reason to critize an entire fanbase of people because they like something different than you.

Coming from a guy who likes Dave Mattews and Slipknot at the same time. C'mon, times are tough, share some love.

Some Nu-metal bands include: Linkin Park, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Reveille, Genuflect, Taproot, and what ever other bands you think "should" be nu-metal, but remember, it's not really a genre.

Nu Metal

a type of music that when mentionned compels any moronic metalhead to spew forth mind-numbing nonsense about why his music is better, whining in the manner of an 84-year old man about the "good old days" and generally boring everyone to death. It regroups music from groups like Korn, System of a Down, Slipknot, Linkin Park.

Some guy: I really like this new song by system.
Metalhead: Fuck you you corporate sellout. Nu metal sucks, it's weak and repetitive and makes you rebel against your parents instead of the establishment you whiny little fuck!
Some guy: What's the last rebellious thing YOU did? Go to a Salyer concert? Some rebel you are...
Metalhead: ... I cheated on my taxes once.

mall metal

The trashy no talent music, a la Metallica or Slipknot, that dumbshit teenagers listen to in Hot Topic. A fairly new definition, as PopMetal is just starting to grate on most sane peoples nerves. These are children that pretend to rebel by maintaining a status quo. The more you look like your friend, the more you are being an individual.

Mall Metal people tend to listen to whatever is popular on the radio or at various mall stores. They can often be identified by their moronic Dog Collars and trendy tattoos and clothing.

God, all these mall metal kids make me want to vomit...

Fuck-Shit-Metallica! Fuckin' Mall Metal Brat...

pop metal

Where all the heart, soul and any level of intellectualism is gutted from the genre for poseur bands with their fake emotion, all neatly packaged in a three minute MTV video that does absolutly nothing except patronise fans of genuine metal. Usually comes added with a crossover at some point with an overrated rapper that appears on everyone's albums - apart from other rappers, who despise them for being commercialised crap with no worth whatsoever.

Linkin Park - with or whithout Jay-Z.

Metal Face

A villain in Xenoblade. He's a large robot with claws that looks like he has a hunch. He's called Metal Face because they recognize it as the only mechon they've seen with a face.

God dammit, I can't beat Metal Face!
