A common ploy used in the army to amuse the troops during inspection. The N.C.O will pick up a soldier's boots and ask him what he is doing with airborn boots. Confused, the young troop will stammer that they were issued to him/he does'nt know/he thought they were regular boots. The N.C.O will then show why they are airborn boots and proceed to throw them violently out the window/doorway/tentflap. While doing so, the N.C.O will say "See, they're fucking Air Born Boots, ya scroate!!!!
Hey, what are you doing with these fucken airborn boots, you fucken scroate?? Want to know why they're airborn boots???" **throws boots into the air** "Because they're fucking Air Born!!!"""

Ugg Boots.
I was there, I saw it.
Probably named Ugg on the basis of them resembling "cave people" animal hide boots.
Originally made in Australia, probably Victoria, around 30-35 years ago. Climate is reasonably cold in winter, boots very warm in winter.
Sold well, market expanded. Was started by a small home manufacturer, mainstream production then ensued.
Seems to be an adapted and more basic version of the cheap sheep skin flying boots (worn by impoverished motorcyclists).
Can look great as the case may be.
I wear Ugg Boots to keep my feet warm.

Grunts, infantry. A military cliche' which uses four words as a euphemism for "gound troops". It is a politically useful, 1984-style cliche' since boots do not bleed and die nor kill people, children, civilians. Media people like this rif because it makes them sound like military strategists.
Boots-on-the-ground is the kind of thinking that got wrong Viet Nam where sandals from tunnels stomped the boots on the ground.
Chuck Cliche', "We should put boots on the ground in the South China Sea".
Straight-Talk Stela, "You don't hear me suggesting my daughter the soldier put her boot on your mouth."
