Friend of Liza

A modernized version of the old standby, "friend of Dorothy", meaning a (usually flamboyant) homosexual male. This is, of cours, in reference to Liza Minnelli, who inherited her mother Judy Garland's (aka, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz) primarily gay audience, and is equally worshipped and idolized by the gay community. However, with this modernized term comes a modernized definition, which now also includes lesbians. Minnelli's extensive charity work and advocacy for gays and bisexuals earns her this title.

"Of course he's going to Pride Week, he's a friend of Liza!"

Backup friend

A person you are friends with, but is treated poorly, and is talked to when your friends are absent. The person who sees you as a backup friend does not care about you, and you get screwed over.

Since Julie ignored Corrine's text about a sleepover, Corrine got the sign that she was the backup friend, because Julie asks her to do things very seldom.

Casey friend

A person that does not exist. It can be either a hallucination, dream, or made-up. From the Casey Anthony trial.

Daniel didn't have many friends so he created a Casey friend to play with.

Second-friend

A person who is friends with your friend and you don’t know them well enough to call them your own friend so they are your second-friend through association.

I bought my second-friend a small but appropriate birthday gift to be cordial.
