Strategically Late

The process of showing up too a dinner party late, not to be fashionable, but to wait until others are already there so you can strategically sit next to people you want to, and more importantly, away from those that you don't.

I dropped a deuce in my pants at the thought of spending two hours next to that fucking popinjay Cass D., so I made sure I came strategically late, to know where he was sitting and I sat at the other table.

late pass

(n.)
----------
etymology: derived from the phrase "get a late pass" (v., latepass)
----------
a metaphorical object one takes or gives to signify that whatever was thought to be new and interesting is, in fact, old and already widely circulated

Between my recent "revelation" that tomatoes are actually fruits and my "invention" of the term "goofle," I am receiving far too many late passes recently, and I may very well be suspended.

Late Goodbye

Two meanings...

1. A tight alternative song by the Finnish band Poets of the Fall. It's featured in the Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne game.

2. From what I gather, when a person knows something should have been stopped or over from the start but allows it to cross the line. In the song, it pertains to two friends who went too far...

1. "And we keep drivin' into the night, it's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye."

2. I wish we wouldn't have even gone out! Now it's gonna be a late goodbye.

unfashionably late

Derived from fashionably late.
To be unfashionably late is to have missed, and gone over the time period (between 5-15 minutes) where you are fashionably late. While being fashionably late is recognized by the host(s), being unfashionably late makes you seem rude.

"Tom was unfashionably late for my party, what a dick"
