vital mistake

an excessive act of debauchery with no regard to later repercussions, that takes place in a public setting between a person known to be susceptible to errors of judgement when intoxicated and another whose identity causes in some major aspect such a flippant display to be seen by the rest of the associated group as inherently and severely amusing, and has strong pertinence with regard to one's future perception and reputation regarding promiscuity, self conduct and ability to select appropriate others in future with which to undertake possible further acts of such debauchery.

Last night, she made a vital mistake when we went out clubbing.

The Perfect Mistake

he Perfect Mistake. Creativity, Originality and Passion summed up.

Throughout the past 4 years, The Perfect Mistake has established itself as a mainstay in the New York rock scene, catching the ears of non-believers with their high energy live show and their ultra catchy sound resembling that of Weezer and Jimmy Eat World. The Perfect Mistake has shared the stage with artists signed to Virgin, Maverick, Warner, Drive-Thru, Victory and Tooth and Nail records among others. Now, with a new EP released May 2006 and with an uncompromised DIY ethic, and a handful of regional tours under their belt, The Perfect Mistake are set to make some noise.

The Perfect Mistake began in Spring '03 when Irving Safdieh and Joe Vaknen met in high school. That May, two months after debuting an original song at a school talent show together, Irv and Joe picked up Morris Betesh and Billy Mizrahi and hit the studio to record their first demo and The Perfect Mistake was born.

By that Summer, with an average band age of 13 and a half and no resources for promotion but the word of mouth, The Perfect Mistake exploded from nowhere, selling over 1,000 copies and proving to be a force to be reckoned with, giving a new face to the lifeless scene that was Brooklyn, New York.

That following Winter, TPM hit the studio once more to record their full length EP titled "In Flames". "In Flames" showcased the band's musical strengths, that which they are still known for today --- clever songwriting, contagious guitar hooks and overall solid, catchy rock songs.

In December '04, The Perfect Mistake was featured on the front page of Pure Volume which in turn, gave them the exposure needed to let the world know what they were missing. During that time, The Perfect Mistake held the positions of number 1 overall artist, number 1 unsigned artist and the number 1, 4 and 6 songs throughout the whole Pure Volume community.

In March '06, TPM hit the studio once more, this time with producer Mike Watts (The Fold, The Almost, As Cities Burn, Hopesfall) to record their newest release, "A Step in the Right Direction". The new EP highlights all in which TPM have been praised for in the past while adding the perks gained from a few years of experience and just plain old growing up.

In the Summer of 06, TPM were featured on the front page of Pure Volume TWICE! Needless to say, TPM held the ..1 slot for overall unsigned artist and most downloaded song for three weeks.
Presently, The Perfect Mistake are ripping up the east coast tour circuit, sharing the stage with artists including Cute is What we aim for, the Summer Obsession, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Hidden in Plainview, Spitalfield, Socratic and many others.

The Perfect Mistake is a story about four boys coming together to pioneer a scene that, beforehand, did not exist in Brooklyn. Currently, the story's in the making...

Me: The Perfect Mistake is awesome.

Griswold mistake

A major oversight or obvious err in judgement or planning. As in the movie National Lampoon's Vacation, the Griswold family drives cross-country to Wally World theme park to find that it was closed. Or, failing to see an obvious easier route, short-cut, shorter line or less crowded approach to anything while preoccupied following the masses. "Stupid tourist, sheep, rookie mistake".

After spending nearly an hour looking for parking, Ves realized his Griswold mistake of shopping at the mall on the weekend.

Blumenthal mistake

Giving the impression that one served in the military in a capacity one did not

Named after Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal, who used language that implied he had served overseas during the Viet Nam war

"I didn't serve in Vietnam. I don't want to make a Blumenthal mistake here."--Joe Biden, in a speech to veterans on May 25, 2010

Rookie mistake

A mistake that is caused by a lack of experience, a lack of attention, a lack of care, or any combination of the 3.

Person A: My roommate was playing Grand Theft Auto the other day, but it was his first time playing a game in the series. That part became clear when he tried stealing the first parked car he saw... only to immediately get a wanted level because there was a police car nearby that he somehow didn't notice.

Person B: Talk about a rookie mistake.
