Cloak of ego

When people in administrative, leadership, and coaching roles disguise their incompetence with ego and hubris, often successfully warding off questions or criticism until they have done significant damage to the business.

"Leaders" who use the cloak of ego are often on to their next job before the damage they did at the last one is fully realized.

"Man, the head football coach at my alma mater is just killing the program. He can't win, he can't recruit..."

"Doesn't matter. He has a cloak of ego. Everyone buys into it; the administration, the boosters...you're stuck for five years, easily."

Ego-Tourist

Where globetrotters head for increasingly obscure locales, not for the experience but for the bragging rights of having been somewhere exotic and difficult while looking down on any adventures that don't involve an amusing incident with a nasty local disease / local militia / extreme weather event. Ego-tourists have way too much attachment to words like 'authentic' and 'unspoilt'

Bob is boring me stiff with his stories from the Congo. He's such an ego-tourist.

Ego-waste

Usually found in corporate activities, processes and projects it is that amount of effort, time or money expended with the sole purpose of assuaging or satiating a decision-maker's ego. None of these activities have any direct or indirect value to the company, other employees, the stockholders or to conscious life in general--it's strictly the wasted time, money and effort to make a senior level person happy.

Please add 80 to 120 hours to any project or activity to accommodate ego-waste.
