A chain of stores, linked to the Gap, that markets supposedly "radical" ideas and styles to angsty teens who are pissed off for no apparent reason...making them feel superior to others who buy overpriced A&F stuff, while they don't see that what they are buying is equally overpriced. Hot topic seems to have an agenda of actually MONOPOLIZING non-conformity,so anyone without a brain could even see that it's a bunch of shit.
"I'm such a rebel! i got this anarchy shirt at hot topic!"
"Hmm....'made in mexico.' Oh, wasn't there a massacre by the police a few weeks ago at one of HT's factories during the IWW strike?"

a store where people can shop at. it sells mostly clothing that is "dark" or "punk" it is a good place to buy band gear, and clothes/pins/whatever about a televison show or a movie. you can also buy hair stuff and black makeup there. and sometimes they have cool blankets and such. (i got a really fuzzy faerie blanket from there for chirstmas, i love it.)
hot topic is just another clothing store.

an open room with clothes on the walls, also known as a store. if you don't like it, don't shop there. if you do like it, do shop there. and if you think you can't shop there because you already own clothes from abrecrombie then you have alot of growing up to do.
kid 1: this shirt is from hot topic, the pants are from hollister.
kid 2: YOU CANT MIX HOT TOPIC AND HOLLISTER YOU FUCKING POSER. OH MY GOD I CANT BE SEEN WITH YOU.

A store located in the mall that used to be cool until about two years ago, when the ditzy preps got lost on their way to Old Navy. Some idiots that like to spread rumors say that Hot Topic is affiliated with The GAP. Of course, seeing as how there is no proof of this what-so-ever, if you confront this idea to any employees at either Hot Topic or The GAP, they will be baffled at your assumption.
Not everyone who shops at Hot Topic is a poser. Some of us just shop there to get stuff from the bands we like, such as Sublime, ICP, Deftones, etc. Or just to get Faygo 'cuz that's the only place around here the sells it.
Prep: Like, oh. My. God. My boyfriend would love this chain! My boyfriend is SUCH a tough guy, especially since he started shopping at Hot Topic! And his hair is spiked!
Me: Liberty spikes?
Prep: Like, no, silly! Like...Gelled up!
Me: Can he play the air guitar?
Prep: No, but he can play girls like no tomorrow!!!! Teehee.

Just a store. Some people go there in the idea that theyre being rebellious. But they're not. Hot Topic sells a variety of band shirts, shirts with jokes, etc. They also sell funny buttons or bumber stickers. In addition they sell jewelry (not all got or punk or emo!), family guy merchandise, and anime stuff...Mostly inuyasha or fma.

DUDE! *emo tear* i couldnt go to hot topic but i did anyways because im soo emo/skater/punk/rebel/electrikk/goth/scene and bought really huge black pants.

a store that sells merchandise which teenagers use to make them feel like theyre "punk" or "goth" and alternative. they think it is the anti-abercrombie, when in fact A&F and hot topic are both multimillion dollar chain stores with overpriced clothing. there is nothing alternative or punk or goth about hot topic, its just another store. so dont think that if you shop there you will become different, because it's in the same boast as A&F, only less slutty.
"i went to hot topic today! look at the clothes i got! theyre kind of a goth/punk theme! now i will pretend to be depressed while cutting myself!"
