I can’t believe Rhoads wore his letter jacket in college to go out to the bars.
A grouping of alphanumeric characters meant to convey some sort of a message, but often not closely enough resembling an actual language to be easily read and understood.
Letter piles are commonly found on the internet in instant messages, emails, forums, blog comments, answers on Q&A sites, and even some definitions on Urban Dictionary. This is not to be confused with 1337 sp33k, which is purposely obfuscated, although letter piles often contain 1337 sp33k.

A way for the bored people to reach out and fill their so-called "friends'" email boxes with useless information so that they could feel superior in reaching out to mass people that they otherwise would not be able to meet.
Friends do not let friends send chain letters.

A college rejection letter, identified by a thin envelope which carries only the rejection letter and not the school information usually associated with acceptance letters.
"I got thin letters from every college I've applied to...looks like I'm going to work at McDonalds..."
