street theater

It's a term that actually goes all the way back to 1600 Victoria-era England. Certain women, in an act of trying to get into certain high-end social circles, would openly and crudely mock and ridcule other women in hopes of publically humiliating them, oftentimes using what was considered course language back in the day.

One woman was ridiculing another and it was such street theater.

Magnet Theater

Theater and School for Improv and Sketch Comedy. Pretty much run by Armando Diaz protege of Del Close.
Super supportive non judgemental community.
To be honest when it started it was pretty rusty ... kind of a rag tag group of UCB cast offs. For a while alot of people stayed away because it was thought that if you couldn't cut it at UCB you went there ... to the land of misfit improvisers.
Now the place is booming with talent. People who got sick of the attitudes of other improv theaters attitudes but love to perform and take classes have started trickling in. You can catch some really terrific shows here. The classes are among the best in the city. Clique's are really at a minimum and trash talk is not accepted well.
It's still small but growing rapidly. Kind of a "everybody knows your name" place - the "Cheers" of the NY Improv Scene.

"I'm taking classes over at the Magnet!"

The Magnet Theater is a great place to study improv, catch a show and a great place to perform.

There's alot of hidden talent at The Magnet.

theater ass

That painful feeling you get in your ass muscles when sitting for a very long time. Usually the result of long gaming sessions or Harry Potter films.

Cam: "I'm not gonna be able to sit down tomorrow, dude"
Matt: "Why not?"
Cam: "Transformers 3 gave me the worst theater ass. I'm gonna have to get my mom to rub Bengay on it before bed."
Matt: "Oh iite"

Theater Guy

1. A guy who is in theater.

2. A guy who partakes in musical theater(often high school) and is gay.

3. An extremely annoying and girly guy who is in musical theater.

4. A guy who is in musical theater and refuses to admit he is gay when all symptoms of homosexuality are valid.

Guy 1: "Wow!, this guy is in theater and is so girly, yet he claims he's straight?!"

Girl 1: "Well duh, he's a theater guy!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guy 1: "This guy I know takes theater and is the biggest bitch, god he acts like a fruitcake."

Guy 2: "Hmmm, are you familiar with a theater guy?"

Guy 1: "Oh! It all makes sense now...."

Dream Theater

The songwriters of Dream Theater are up there with the lyrical talent of Bob Dylan, while their melodies remind you of the catchiness of The Beatles.
With a late-night vibe that is similar to that of Tom waits and "Kind of blue" era Miles Davis (but more "pure") they produce a type of "roots" music that is so authentic and honest that it would even turn "The Band" and Hank Williams into musical liars. Their guitar solos are raw and heartfelt and have a brilliant sing-along factor to them because of the "less is more" attitude of Petrucci's playing: they stick with you for the rest of your days: You won't get rid of his well chosen notes.
The average DT fan is a charismatic jazz-cat with a great love for for things that are "real" in life. Surrounded by "James Dean-cool" they hate sience fiction, mathematics and digital. They are extremely popular with the ladies because of their romantic urge and their ability to play "Dream Theater songs" on the piano for the girl by moonlight...

Taken from Jack Kerouac's "On the Road": "Rawlins and I decided to sharp up for the big night. "latch on to some of these towels and razors and we'll spruce up a bit. Let's dig some dream theater and check out some cute dolls..."

Bob Dylan on Dream Theater: The first time I heard Dream Theater on AM radio back in '56, I knew that I would never work for the man..."
