This is a subset of Ironic Memes on Instagram. It is characterized by the use of old meme culture (impact font text, dead memes, etc.) in an ironic fashion.

The inventor of this phrase is an ironic instagram account (now inactive) called @dankirony_funny. He was regarded as one of the best "dank irony" accounts of the 2018-2019 irony era.
