The greatest cop-out in the parent/grownup world, this phrase is uttered when the adult is not able/willing to address/alleviate a totally legitimate problem or concern that a child is complaining to him about. Even worse is if the adult uses amused/cutesy/sarcastic expressions and/or actions to accompany said invalid statement, such as giving the kid a couple quick pats on the cheek for "dismissive emphasis and finality", giggling while speaking, saying, "You wanna know what I *honestly* think?" beforehand, opining that "somebunny" needs the nap (which of course makes the child all the more upset and humiliated, since this makes it appear to the child that the adult is not even really listening to him or taking what he has to say seriously), etc.
Statement: You need a nap.
What is really meant: I don't have the time/money/authority/inclination to help resolve your problem, and/or the bratty/overbearing person who is mistreating you is related to a "somebody" who is important to our family, and so I don't dare make a scene or try to demand that you be treated better by him. But I'm afraid to be truthful with you about this because I've always promised you that I will protect you and correct any wrongs in your young life, and so if you find out that I was "just saying that" but actually am not always able/willing to help you in every case, you will hate me as a parent and never trust me again. Same thing happened with me and your grandparents when I was little.
What you do just before you get clean and sober. You eat two sandwiches and take a nap. Get back to reality. Sober up.

Sometimes in life, nighttime just didn't provide you with the correct amount of sleep you deserved.
When this occurs its perfectly acceptable to go for a nap when your energy runs out, to keep you fresh for the rest of the day.
The key with napping is to not make it too long, once you reach the fresh/grog boundary it can all go wrong, leaving you with a post-nap groggy feeling leaving you feeling a horrible mixture of hungover and mental slowness which is hard to shift.
Eddie had had a late night and an early morning start, leaving him to contemplate a quick nap at 3pm, however when he awoke at 5pm he had sleep hair, a fuzzy feeling on his tongue and a general feeling of post-nap grog.

To party super late and go back to your dorm/apt and sleep for a very brief length of time (generally two hours or less) before waking up the next morning and continuing the raging. (A particularly good way to put off a hangover)
I'm just gonna nap 'n' rally. Where you gonna be in two hours?

The nap that you take in response to an overwhelming feeling of lethargy as a result from consuming pei wei dishes that have a high carbohydrate/sugar/sodium content.
Person 1:"Dude, I ate lunch at pei wei, then tried to study for a test, but passed out for the whole afternoon"
Person 2:"Damn dude...those pei wei naps can really get to you"

Needing a nap as soon as possible, as long as possible.
Last night I raged until the wee hours of the night and had to wake up so early. Before I go out again, I need a NAP-ASAP-ALAP.
