Aleksei State of Mind

A state of melancholy where you just want to be loved but at the same time don't want to take risks. You also want to float off into oblivion with nothing but a piano and dramatic lighting.

"Recently I have been having a tough time, I've been in an Aleksei state of mind"
"Oh no!"

absent-minded professor

The very intelligent are sometimes preoccupied with weighty matters (as they suppose) insomuch that they forget about more prosaic matters -- such as remembering keys, wallet, phone, appointments, etc.

The teacher showed up in class, on time -- but forgot it was Tuesday, not Wednesday -- and was halfway through the lecture before the absent-minded professor realized he was teaching the wrong subject matter. On the plus side, I understand Einstein's Theory of Relativity a lot better than I did. I hope it shows up on our Physical Science 101 exams...

Cultural Mind Trick

A skill used by people from other countries to trick a person into doing something ridiculous. Achieved by telling the person that in their country the said action is either a sign of respect, or that not doing it is viewed as insulting. Similar to the Jedi Mind Trick.

American: "I don't want to shove this hot poker up my ass and then chop my dick off!"
Person from other country: "You have to! It's very disrespectful in our culture if you don't do so upon first meeting."
American: "I don't know, man. Sounds like a cultural mind trick..."

Jedi Mind Meld

A failed attempt by a politician to gain some credit with scifi fans by butchering some phrase from a fictional univeres. A form of Palinpropism

Mr. Obama: <boring political talk/> "We need a jedi mind meld with the republicans 'America shall live long and prosper for this is not the budget you are looking for"

Joe Biden: "Oh no you didn't"

On the other side of the galaxy
Captian Kirk: "I felt a great disturbance in the Force......<pause/>, as if the president said something dumb <pause/> and <pause/> millions of nerd voices suddenly cried out in laughter and suddenly started making new memes. <long pause/> I fear something terrible has happened."
