2. An adjective describing a culture of people who frequently wear somewhat long hair, dark clothes, dark makeup, and guys who wear girl-style pants. Emo's sometimes (but not always) cut themselves, as a way to relieve depression.
3. An adjective for a diverse style of rock music usually containing emotional lyrics.
Person 1: "Dude was that a goth?"
Person 2: "No, they're an emo"
Person 1: "How can you tell?"
Person 2: "They had a hoodie on, and they weren't headbanging to metal"

The plural form of emo. AKA group of (noramally) young whiny kids who are a product of 80's punk and goth REJECTION and created a social movement knows as the rejects.

There are loads of definitions for Emo,
And everyone has a different opinion of it.
Emo is a form and style of music, generally bands such as My Chemical Romance, Fugazi, and such.
But this is no reason to say that the emo stereotype doesn't exist.
Because if it didn't exist, we wouldn't have the emo kids.
Generally, when Emo comes to mind, people think of band logo t-shirts, tight skinny jeans, and assymetrical black hair.
But emo is not about the look, nor the style. It's a lifestyle and way of thinking.
Not depression. Not suicidal.
You have many people classified as preps and jocks and other labels that can be depressed and have suicidal thoughts.
Many of the emo friends I have are cheery and artistic.
And, oh get this, their emotions are quite in check.
Emo 1: S'time to go to the concert. Moshpit!!

Often used to describe a person. There are two definitions to this word: emotionless, and emotional. The belief that "wearing dark clothes, having the hair covering an eye or both, cutting ones self, having little to no friends, and wearing eye liner/makeup despite gender" is a false concept.
"Happy Birthday kiddo!" (dad)

A very ironic subculture devoted to trying extremely hard and spending a lot of money to fit one cookie-cutter emo mentality, then denying (strongly denying that is) that you are emo to anyone who asks.

so they are sensitive type, most are shy as well

Emo are mainly people who have long hair on the side of their eye(usually dudes) or banes/chop like hair (usually girls).
Wear mostly black hair, tight pants small t-shirt, belts(optional), some piercings,(optional) Some girl wears everyday clothes with emo hair. both gender wore eyeliner as well.
Listen to emotional/screamo music.
Theirs hair is mostly dye black (guy/girl) some can be blond or red (usually girls).
Have highlights in their hair (girls mostly).
NOT ALL emo cut themselfs! the reason why is either they feel trap/ blame themselfs or they just want to feel something.
They write peotry, or play music
Talk about how their life is unfair. Have somewhat a subborn attitude sometimes.
Yes, emo do have fun in their way. They also have their own type of friends.
Most are about middle and rich class that are emo. due to their parents doesn't care about them or thing doesn't go right.
Most Emos are Posers, some are not.
What I think Emo true definition if it by characterist, it would be the people who are the Outcast of the Outcast by society itself, even the weird reject them as well. basically they are a shadow that almost no 1 can see them. Besides, they didn't chose to be emo, fate made them. Not GOD!
