An apology that a person (mostly influencers and celebrities) type out on the notes app (more particularly the notes app on an iPhone). They are usually a quick apology so the writer can do damage control if that celebrity or influencer gets canceled or called out for something that is usually controversial. It’s hard to tell if a notes app apology is sincere since they can constructed by ones management, publicist or team. They are commonly uploaded to social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram.
Person: Omg gurl look! James Charles got canceled yet AGAIN!
Person #2: Yes gurlll I also saw that half assed Notes app apology he put out on his Instagram. I’m disgusted.

when someone has frequent and unjustified angry outburst but upon the realization they have no friends left they hand out fruit cups instead of apologies this is done because they don't believe they have done anything wrong but they still need people on their side
Janice acted like a crazy bitch yesterday and thinks this fruit cup will make up for it.. I'll accept the fruit cup apology just because the drama otherwise would be exhausting
Rather than taking responsibility or solving a problem that a company has caused you, they just use the three litte words to end the matter: "I DO apologize" with the emphasis on "DO". What they are really saying is "I DON'T apologize, nor do I give a damn about you, or the inconviences and money we have cost you, now hang up the phone and let me get back to my sandwich!"
After dinging the customer's credit card a third time, the phone clerk responded, "Yes I see we have overbilled you and caused your credit score to be lowered do to a mistake we have made but it is past 30 days and there is nothing we can do about it, I DO apologize".

When someone can't swallow their pride and actually say "I'm sorry", but give out fruit cups instead, that's called a fruit cup apology.
Sometimes they'll give a sample of mascara, or a shirt from their closet that they don't want anymore, but it's always something they don't care about, and it's always given with the expectation that the recipient will forgive whatever fucked up thing the fruit cup apologizer did wrong. The fruit cup is more of a metaphor than anything.
If the "gift" is accompanied by an "I'm sorry", it cannot be a fruit cup apology. The phrase is only to be used when someone is avoiding having to apologize.
It's made even more pathetic when the person feels the need to constantly tell others that they're a good person. Only bad people fruit cup apologize.
Janice used a fruit cup apology with these old pants last week, but today she didn't like how I shut the cabinet door, so she called me ungrateful and wanted the pants back. Just wait, tomorrow she'll fruit cup apologize with a peanut butter cup.

India Ferrah made shit up on Alexis Mateo during 'RuPaul's Drag Race AllStars' Season 5 and tried to serve her best Drag Queen Apology aka Apolo-lie to clean up her tattered reputation. "I need to sincerely apologize for things that were said. If you were offended I'd like to directly apologize for actions taken in the past and it was never my intention to repeat an untrue thing that was mentioned."
