Marching band

1.)Life
2.)Band room= your home
3.)Getting the latest gossip every morning after the 7 a.m. practice in the band hallway
4.)Hating the drum line and later realizing you can't march without them and they aren't that bad after all
5.)Going to school before the sun is up and leaving after it goes down
6.)Knowing that everything you say will be taken the wrong way
7.)THE BAND BUS!!!!!!
8.)Competitions=Fun
9.)Practice=Not so Fun
10.)Having a Director that thinks wearing only Hawaiian tee-shirts is a good thing even in the dead of winter
11.)Feeling bad for the freshman that sign up for the bus with the color guard and come off it coughing do to the hairspray and sparkles
12.)Being the only kids in school that can say "One time at band camp.." and are not making a movie reference
13.)Hate it while you're in it and miss it when you're done
14.)Don't mind changing in front of a ton of people
15.)Having weird nicknames like Wsssteve (the w is silent...sometimes) just because you can

The Band room Tuesday morning after Marching band practice. Tom: "Did you hear that Wsssteve stole the drum line bear." Kelly:"Yeah he had it with him on the band bus." Tom:"Hope he gives it back or the drum line might boycott the next competition."

marching band

Months of physical excretion that pushes even the best band student to their breaking point. It consist of a series of vocal commands such as gush and go, rep it again, and set this dot.

non musical friend: Marching band isn't a sport
Marching band student: What do you call running, marching and standing for three hours strait?!

marching band

1.That thing that consumes so many people's lives. It's usually fun until the director(s) piss you off. It may or may not be a sport.
2.Those dudes at every football game who aren't the players and wear funny clothes.
3.Those seemingly geeky kids, who are somehow more likely to get laid than you.

Those kids who show up to every game, play (mostly)decent music, travel a lot, and may even get credit in school for it are with the marching band.

marching band

I.) the only club in the entire high school which requires work before the school year even starts.
i.e. BAND CAMP
1. wake up at 6:45 every morning to arrive at school BEFORE 8am (to be on time is to be late, and to be early is to be on time)
2. work your butt off until 12 outside learning sets and reviewing marching
3. work on your music inside, or go outside to run your sets with the music, until 3:30 (or 5:00 if you have sections)
4. go home until 6:00 and head off to a band party until 10:30
5. try to stay awake long enough to take a shower
6. set your alarm for the next morning
7. go up to no. 1

II.) then, it requires practice after school...
monday, wednesday, thursday - 2:30 - 4:45 (so u can catch the 5:00 bus)
tuesday - marching clinic
friday - GAME DAY calltime is 5 so you mine as well stay anyway...
saturday- competition !!
sunday - holiday parades or tv gigs anyone?

III.) Where you meet your second family, and your best friends and where you gain all of your inside jokes that go on your buddy profile.

marching band

the most underappreciated team in any school.

a group of students who practice as many hours or more as any other team. A team expected to have every movement, head to toe, in precision while playing an instrument to a complex score by memory and moving across the entire football field forming perfect imagery all while wearing the most ungodly uncomfortable uniforms. and other than a claims by other members receive no recognition other the negative stereotyping

I've put more time and effort into perfecting my music, choreography, and technique then all of my classes combined yet no one even acknowledged our marching band won the state championship
