Mosh Etiquette

Mosh Etiquette is what separates most metal from most punk mosh pits. This unwritten rule pamphlet, too few rules for a book, there are only 3 (to me)

1. Don't be an ass. If you go into a pit looking to hurt as many people as bad as you can, someone will probably take a bottle to the back of your head. Weapons are an absolute beating coming your way, depending on the show, the band might kick you the fuck out after your beating.

2. If someone falls down you stop moshing and pick them up, if they are hurt, help them out of the pit. Failure to do so will result in an old breed mosher beating the fuck out of you. Pretty entertaining.

3. If a person is on the edge of the pit, you are not supposed to drag them in, unless you know them and they won't mind. The "guards" as I call them are life long pit encirclers, they contain it to a certain area of the floor. They like the physicality with the minimal chance of getting hurt.

As a last note, don't throw crowd surfers into the pit, we won't catch them.

Lots of punks follow some form of mosh etiquette. Some metalheads too

Caught in a Mosh

1. While on a Metal/Hardcore/Punk/ concert you(sometimes unwillingly) find yourself in the middle of a Mosh Pit, with all the craziness that ensues from such an activity. Although the pit can be quite harsh, it can also be fun as hell.

2. An awesome song by Thrash Metal band Anthrax; a true anthem for those who enjoy the afore-mentioned activity.

1. Dude, I was Caught in a Mosh last night in Death by Stereo's gig. I wanted to keep it civil, but damn! It was awesome.

2. Which one of these words don't you understand? I'm Caught in a mosh. Talking to you is like clapping with one hand. What is? caught in a mosh!

Mosh News

Mosh News is one of the most popular entertainment news sources in based in the United Kingdom. Their definition of "MOSH" goes against the traditional saying of "MOSH" since they claim it stands for "Major Online Social Hub" -- which was created in 2011.

Usually the word MOSH generally means people fighting in a 'mosh-pit', but it seems the guy who created Mosh News has invented a whole new meaning for his world-wide company, which could cause confusion for people, but if his definition becomes the true meaning behind "MOSH" then he has clearly changed the history of the world.

mosh pits

mosh pits are the metal heads dance, unlike most dances of today, this one it very violent and involves a lot of pushing, shoving, screaming and shouting. usually they starts when a metal band plays a very heavy song and people being to head bang to the music. then some one head bangs a little bit to fast and hit some one else, and the hit them back (as any good metal head would). the person who was hit goes in to another person who also pushes them, and so the dance of the metal heads has begun!!

john:YEAHHH!!(hits of Joe in his fit of headbanging)
Joe:WATCH IT!!(pushes john, john hits off another metal head and they push him..) and so on and so on until there is a lot of people jumping on people and crazy shit....to give u a proper example i would have to show u! and thats how to start mosh pits!

Mosh Pain

Pain you get while moshing, usually only felt after the event, kind of like a hangover for music. Immediate pain can be felt occasionally, but only when severe injuries occur

Stagediving and landing on your head, falling over, and anything that can hurt while moshing. All of these cause mosh pain

mosh part

The portion of a song engineered to create the greatest mosh.
This is usually done by halving the time signature, letting chords ring out, and is preceeded by either a mosh call out, 4 clicks, feedback or some sort of mosh precursor.

Cro Mags - World Peace 47 seconds in - the drums kick in and then the mosh part!
