The act of engaging in conversation for the sole purpose of harvesting gossip, usually from people deemed to be friends.
I used to count them as my friend, but now I see that their only intentions was gossip fishing!
The TV show started in 2007 was based on the series of books by Cecily Von Ziegesar. Every millennial hates to love it and the show gen z's are just finding out about. It was a cultural reset yet it was ridiculously cringe worthy but also kind of amazing. It's also very problematic at the same time like wtf.

The show was the start of some of Hollywood's most successful actors and actresses careers and the peak of some less famous one's careers. The plot was about the "scandalous" lives of rich socialites and teens in Manhattan with the exception the few middle class main characters that were used to compare the differences between them and the rich. The show had sexual themes showcased the teens drinking alcohol making people consider it too mature for teens at the time. The show also briefly touched on eating disorders and rape. The show has been nicknamed gg by fans. There was 6 seasons and it has a soap opera like format.

1. A really good book series. Cecily von Zeigesar is a really good author. Even though Gossip Girl books are the number one banned book series or something.
2. A sucky tv series. Blake Lively (who played Bridget in the sisterhood of the traveling pants and had her picture on CosmoGirl) plays Serena van der Woodsen. Well, she tries. She absolutely sucks at it. Her voice is too breathy and everything for her to be a slutty, unpredictable it-girl. She's not even pretty.
Some girl plays Blair Waldorf and does an excellent job. They messed up Nate, Jenny, Dan and Dan's dad. Chuck Bass is really good and they took a character very important to the story, Vanessa.
