internet hacktivists that originated from the image board 4chan, now completely changed and reformed with new goals like bringing down the Church of Scientology, stopping government laws like ACTA, SOPA and PIPA from being passed and recently, their DarkNet project, which entails bringing down pedophiles and pedophillic content from the internet.
Anonymous are often percieved as being petty hackers that have nothing better to do than hack random websites, but they actually do have good intentions, like free speech and creativity for everyone on the internet. My advice is just get used to the fact that groups like anonymous exist and rather than bashing them and saying ignorant things like "ooh anonymous used to be final boss of the internet but their just a bunch of idiots!!!" get educated and understand anonymous' place on the internet and do not bother yourself with them. Pissing off anonymous is like Pissing on an electric fence. sounds like a funny thing to do but when it comes back and burns you, don't go crying to your mom. you have been warned. dont fuck around with anonymous.

Anonymous is word used to describe a group of people who unite under a single goal (usually connected to human rights or freedom of speech, with occasional goals "for the lulz"), do not reveal their identity and understand that in Anonymous identity is not important, and use a Guy Fawkes mask or a headless suit as their symbol. The use of these logos exclusively is done in order to show that Anonymous can be found all over the world.
Most groups that call themselves Anonymous are peaceful, but some groups are "hacktivists" that use more extreme measures to achieve their goal. In order to differentiate between the types of groups, please refer to and research the Operation, in other words the goal, they say they are part of.
Many Anonymous members are preparing to take part in Operation Onslaught on the 30th of July, as Phase One of The Plan.
Recently, 14 people from Anonymous were arrested in connection to Operation Payback, a successful attempt to DDoS several major credit card companies after they cut off financial ties with WikiLeaks.

anonymous is a famous internet name, notorious for being a civil rights hacker group. many people believe that anonymous is a secret hacker organization that is almost impossible to join, but that is actually incorrect. anonymous isn't even a group; to become a 'part' of anonymous, u just have to put on the mask, take on the name, & speak out abt systematic injustice.
