Granny chic

The real name for shabby chic

"Hey Debbie, I just love your new table and chairs. You must tell me where you got them from"

"Thanks Anna, would you believe that they are second hand from eBay. But I was happy to pay a small fortune and way more than they are really worth because the eBay description said they were genuine Granny Chic"

texas chic

Attire that is chic and stylish, yet distinctly Texan. Ladies can comply with a "Texas chic" dress code simply by wearing cowboy boots (pointed or snip-toe, not ropers) with jeans, a denim skirt, a short or long skirt, or dress. The top can be anything stylish, even a nice tshirt. Jewelry can be western style silver and turquoise, gold or pearls. Men, wear boots and jeans with an oxford shirt (plain, subtly plaid or striped) and skip the "Rhinestone Cowboy" type button-down shirt and huge rodeo belt buckle. Pull-on Red Wing work boots (aka frat boy boots) or cowboy boots can be worn by men. Cowboy hats are optional, depending on the event. If it's a ranch party, wearing a hat is okay. If it's a polo match, probably not. (And FYI, Texans call "cowboy boots" just "boots". )

The rehearsal dinner called for Texas chic, so I wore my boots with a denim dress and braided leather belt.

professorial chic

1. A men's style of dress that strikes a balance between casual and dressy and is decidedly classic, understated and non-trendy. It usually includes some combination of the following:

- a tweed, houndstooth or camelhair jacket; a long raincoat worn over one of the former
- a chunky wool sweater, preferably made in the british isles
- a wool turtleneck
- plaid slacks, corduroy pants, jeans

- dress shoes or boots

Can be complimented by glasses and/or a restrained jewfro. One does not need to be a professor to embrace this style, and it is usually more effective in garnering compliments if worn by someone who is not a professor. The look is an homage to Donald Sutherland's style in many of his 70s film roles including Klute and Don't Look Back.

WOMAN: "With so many little beard-boys here tonight, it sure is nice to see a gentleman in professorial chic. Maybe sometime you can teach me a lesson..."

MAN: "Later, at my place."

toddler chic

a style of fashion in which random articles of clothing are worn with no real concern for coordination or societal criticism. e.g. Christmas cardigan over a collared blouse, workout shorts over Star Wars leggings, with a beanie on the head and cowboy boots on the feet.

Young ladies who are into toddler chic frequent Etsy and thrift stores in search of the perfect random articles of clothing to wear.

Hobo-Chic

A kind of fashion style popularised largely in the teen demographic.

The style is based around the idea that some people look effortlessly good, in such a way that, not combing or interferring with their hair will still result in it being an attractive hit with anyone who'll see it.

Key accessiories that are associated with hobo-chic are fingerless gloves, any hobo-chic practisioner should have these on their person at all times and are pivotal to the look.

Hobo-chic is completely adverse to the hobo look characterised by a mizzle in which they will try to look their best, whilst still failing to look any better than a hobo.
A hobo-chic advocate won't try to look good, but will still pull it off.

'Oh I say! Rose, look at that hobo-chic kid, I'd take him to my cardboard box at the drop of a penny!'
