Rock Canyon

A High school located in Douglas County. This school has some of the richest students in the district. It is not uncommon to see a student driving a Lexus or Mercedes to school. The sports teams are average or slightly above average, as a popular saying in regards to sports is, "Rock Canyon... no promises". The students here score well above national and district averages on a constant basis on almost every standerised test. Currently Rock Canyon has no rival school, but that doesn't stop them from trying to start one with Douglas County or Castle View.

Bill: "Hey are you going to the football game against Castle View?"
Adam: "I don't know, where is it, and is our football team any good this year?"
Bill: "Its at Rock Canyon, and we're average like almost any other year."
Adam: "Ya ok I guess I'll go but I need a ride."
Bill: "Ok, I'll pick you up in my Mercedes"

Rock the Casbah

The Clash song also makes references to the cordoned off Arab areas of European colonial holdings. Rock the Casbah has been said to be a reference to the anti-imperialist movements in colonial nations as well as the banning of music in Persian and Arab nations.

college rock

Music, stemming from college students getting together to form a band, in hopes of becoming rockstars, but doing so by straying away from any mainstream styles and doing so by being jammy and being "unique."

This ultimately results in becoming a typical college band -- having piss-poor production qualities (always done in a weekend's time at a crappy local studio), slightly out of tune vocalists and/or guitars, acoustic guitars, and lots of jamming. 99% of college bands belong to this group, which is why 99% of successful bands do not come from college formed bands.

The college rock phenomenom is why college bands rarely become succesful.

punk rock

Rock music with deliberately offensive lyrics expressing anger and social alienation; in part a reaction against progressive rock. Punk rock is an anti-establishment music movement that began about 1976, exemplified by The Ramones, the Sex Pistols and The Clash. The term is also used to describe subsequent music scenes that share key characteristics with those first-generation "punks". The term is sometimes also applied to the fashions or the irreverent "DIY" ("do it yourself") attitude associated with this musical movement. Punks and punk rock were once denigrated by the overwhelming majority of the population, including young people. To be a punk rocker and play punk rock music was to ostracize yourself from your peers and be the subject of scorn. Today it is relatively socially acceptable to be punk and play punk rock music. Thus, some maintain that the punk scene has lost the very heart of its former nature as one of explosive creativity, rebellion, anger, hate, and individualism and that it has become a mere caricature of what once was.

sub-genres of 'punk rock':

garage punk
horror punk
pop punk
ska punk
skate punk
street punk
