Oof is a joke term used when something unpleasant occurs. The term come from the game Roblox. A bunch of kids started using this in 2018, Though it has been around for a while.

The word oof is used commonly for either feeling sorry for someone or for when you feel awkward and don't know what to say.

and by that, it means flinging into the air while your limbs and head migrate away from your torso, this often happens when you die in Roblox, that is why the word "oof" is also often associated with that game.
