hip pop

In other words half-assed "rappers" who claim that they are the shit when the only people that should be receiving credit for their music are the producers. Since they are the ones that create the beats, it doesn't really matter about the music. Any ass clown can get a bomb ass producer and rap about bullshit and make millions of dollars. A prime example is anything off Nelly's latest album or that milkshake song that is on the air right now.

Hip pop artist lyrics mostly include the following topics:

1. Sippin' Cristal Champagne
2. Rollin' in Escalades, Navigators, or other over-priced SUV's.
3. Talkin' about DUB rims or Spinners.
4. Lame ass choruses that includes 20 other rappers singing along from their mediocre label.
5. Talking about how hard the "gang" life was when they were raised in a suburb, not the hood (See Ja Rule).

Hip Pop is bullshit people, it's a marketing tactic that brainwashes the minds of the youth of America into thinking that these lame ass rappers do have good lyrics. If you want good lyrics go listen to the real hip hop:
KRS-One, Mos Def, Gangstarr, Rakim, and Common. Just to name a few.

Most of the so-called "rap" that you hear on the radio is hip pop. What you see on MTV, that's hip pop.

Bitch Hips

A man who has an anemically underdeveloped upper body, giving the overall illusion that his hips are wider than his shoulders.

Despite his disciplined workouts, Gil sadly suffered from a harsh case of Bitch Hips.

Meta-Hip

Beyond hip. The next phase in the History of Cool (time for John Leland to add a chapter to his book) Non-mainstream culture (and it's trends) will be heading to a more organic, fluid phase. Culture is taking a swing away from the the image conscious, cooler-than-thou attitude of the Hipster sect, moving into a cycle where simplicity, inner pursuits and brightness are the nexus.

Culture runs in cycles and the next phase will feature a meta-hip attitude.

Hip-Hop

A culture and form of ground breaking music and self expression with elements that consisted of the elements of graffiti art, DJing, MCing, and breaking. Today Hip-Hop is considered to be dead in the mainstream because so-called mainstream Hip-Hop doesn't have the elements of hip-hop and have no meaning.
The stuff on MTV and the radio can't be called Hip-Hop because the lyrics don't have any meaning or self expression. Wack artists today just rap about their shopping lists and other bullshit. There are no more DJs making a prescence since artists today think they can manage without them. Without a DJ there are no scratches and cuts. No much graffiti art is being shown in videos. Artists such as 50 Cent, Nelly, Chingy, J-Kwon, P. Diddy, Cash Money Millionaries lack the 4 elements since their lyrics are ridiculous (no MCing skills), they don't have any DJ presence in their tracks (notice that so-called hip-hop today lacks scratches and cuts), and not much graffiti art is being expressed.
The point of this defintion is to show that MTV/Radio mainstream Bling Rappers should be categorized as Hip-Pop artists, not Hip-Hop artists.

Hip-Hop Music is: Run DMC, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Gang Starr, Wu-Tang Clan, Pharcyde, Hieroglyphics, Aceyalone, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Public Enemy, Common, Mobb Deep, Nas, Rakim, and many more old school and underground acts.

Hip-Pop Music is: P. Diddy, Ja Rule, Nelly, 50 Cent, G-Unit, Cash Money Millionaries, and other mainstream money making oriented acts.
