A band that betrays their original purpose for making music in order to make more money. MTV happens to be the cause of most sell outs, making bands worry about their music videos and wether or not they can get them on MTV. A sell out band has to have 3 things happened.
1.)Complete change in style of music
2.)Aired on MTV every day
3.)ALL ABOUT THE MONEY
What is a sell out band?
Green Day - went from punk rock to political "punk" in order to bring in the big money that their other albums failed to do
What is NOT a sell out?
Good Charlotte- A band that from the begining wanted to make maeninful music and continues to due so, despite the critisim they recieve every day from people who claim good charlotte to be "pop punk posers"

someone who says something, but does the other.
for instance, jessica simpson- she says that she would never go on a low-carb diet and loves her curves, yet is shown on the cover of us weekly with a bikini showing her ribs. she says she promotes loving her body but does the opposite

A sell out is someone who is in it for the money and possibly to get laid alot. Bands that are punbk usualy are sell outs like
Good chaoletter Blink 182. and the same goes with pop rock bands like the jonas brothers fall out boy and MCR. Some people think that the biggest thrash band in the world sold out but really they didnt
