I'm sure you already know what this term means, maybe even from experience. If not, it is the Safety Pinned Patches on Overwhelmingly Dark Clothing look, also called emo or goth, but usually lacks originality. This doesn't make a person bad or stupid, but their energy would be better spent distinguishing themselves through some remarkable contribution rather than just violating popular conventions with an attitude.

A failing attempt on Yahoo Answers to try to get people to conform to organized religions, the Government, Corporations and cultural norms. They intend to try to turn us into robots by using rewards and punishments for obedience and disobedience. Unfortunately its been a real fail considering people are leaving, and others who get suspended dont come back.
1. Usually the best answer voted if you dont choose one is the most offensive answer criticizing you for not being enough of a conformist.
2. Questions and answers are deleted if they dont really align with the opinions of the sponsored Organized religion, social norms, Political philosophy or Corporate philosophies.
3. Questions are deleted if they criticize any organized religion, culture, government, or economic system.
4. Pro-hierarchy answers are always given thumbs up, no matter how rude they are, while anti-hierarchy answers are given thumbs down no matter how truthful.
5. The only people left on YA are all pro-hierarchy rightwings.
Yahoo Answers conformist Conspiracies have made it impossible for individuals to be themselves. Thats why every time you hang out in R&S, you are gonna be attacked for not following some official RW theology.

An age old fight between the "preppies" and the "Non-conformists".
Preppies (aka: Jocks)usually never cause problems unless surrounded by friends: usually dislike the non-conformists because of their activities or looks. they do not like Band kids, art kids, theatre kids or any other nonathletic kids because of the simple fact that they do not do the typical highschool activities.
Non-conformists(aka: nerds, dorks, bandies, theater dorks, art dorks, goths, emos, punks etc.) can fight by themselves because of higher IQ: Ironically named, people who do not like the Preppies because of the preppy dislike of them. People who do not go to brand name stores like Hollister and spend $80 on a shirt and instead go to Hot Topic and spend $80 on a shirt. They hate the Preppy activites like sports.
Both groups dress exactly like their respective members and hate eachother for no apparent reason than clothing and extra curricular activities.
Preppy vs. Non-conformists
1.Preppy: Hey you! kid in the tripp pants!
Non-conformist:What?
P: you're gay *snickering to friends*
N-C: whatever Jock-itch
P: what? *scratches head*

One who reluctantly decides to adhere to societal or commercial norms in order to further their own , family or associates ends.
One who suppresses their yearning for self determination, freedom or rebellious nature in order to survive .
EG. You may join a government or military department but you will have to conform to a strict code of behavior. In return you get job security , maybe even job satisfaction and a certain societal standing.
Reluctant conformists can sometimes being a prime example of joining a system in order to change it from the inside. Often times the most pathetic way to bring about change.
“I don’t think young Harrison is cut out for a career in this company I don’t feel as though he buys into our systems and methods entirely.”
“…. Yeah - it seems to me that he is struggling within a straight jacket of conformity in his current role – he’s a real reluctant conformist”

I this case the Rebel , the entrepreneur still lurks beneath the veneer of conformity.

A non conformist is someone who does not think, act, or behave in a way that could be classified as "normal" in their own social environment. Everyone can be classified as a "non-conformist" in some way because conforming is really someones perception of what is normal or acceptable. The more people who think, act or behave a certain way, the more "those" people feel empowered to tell you "their" way is "Normal". And since normal cannot be quantified, we each have to decide for ourselves to what degree we want to conform.
On mondays everyone wore blue, but Billy chose to wear red because he doesn't like blue, and everyone said he was a non conformist.
