Ring Pop

A plastic ring with a large, circular base that is placed on the topside of your hand. A half-inch long plastic rod is sticking up out of it, holding on a flavourful lollipop. Tends to leave a sticky residue all over your hands, because when you suck on a lollipop and then let it 'dry' it kind of... Melts.

Kid one: -sucking noise-
Kid two: Why are you sucking your knuckles?!
K1: -surfaces- Dude! I'm suckin' on a Ring Pop!
K2: Oooohhh, cool!

Plastic Pop

"Plastic Pop" is an umbrella term for a band/musician/genre of so called "Popular Music" that lacks any real depth or merit, and instead emphasizes things like money, partying, booze, promiscuity or other mindless 'middle school' riffraff to gain an audience. These bands are often only successful because they appeal to young, impressionable demographics that are very high in number.

The use of the word "Plastic" in the saying is meant to be a statement about the fakeness/artificiality of both these musicians and bands themselves, and also the music they create, which is often filtered through programs like "Auto-Tune" to achieve an even more fake, "plastic" sound.

These bands, despite selling records and gaining popularity, almost always lack any actual talent and often overshadow less 'glamorous' bands who might actually be much better but don't have a 'gimmick'. Plastic Pop instead relies on strong marketing and very exploitable audiences to stay afloat.

"The Beatles are finally on iTunes! Maybe now kids will listen to music that's actually GOOD instead of all the Plastic Pop they're pushing these days."

Some bands/musicians that might be considered Plastic Pop include but are not limited to: Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Taio Cruz, etc.

Oftentimes "Plastic Pop" songs are put out by flash in the pan groups.

Pop Philosopher

When an individual has a late realisation on a mainstream idea which they believe is very insightful and decide to share this realisation with as many people as possible.
These individuals are often young and are aged between 12-27 but there are examples of even older pop-philosophers. They will make use of social media to preach their message in an effort to gain kudos from their fellow man and show how knowledgeable they are. What sets these pop-philosophers aside from regular learned men is that the ideas of a pop-philosopher are usually personal feelings, expressed on a very holistic level with no real world application, meaning and almost always very hypocritical. Quite frankly no one’s give shit about these ideas as they are complete waste of time. Pop-philosophers often have a very small group of friends as it is nearly impossible to tolerate such a person. They will have a large following from other individuals, often pop-philosophers in making themselves.
This term was originally coined by Mr 'Skye', currently residing in Singapore.

Ruby: I believe that to help our fellow man, we should raise individual awareness by launching multiple mass media campaigns to selected target groups and measure the data which we can use to extrapolate, blah diblah blah.
Skye: Oh for fucks sake Ruby, shut up you stupid Pop Philosopher and just run down to the copying room and get me 20 copies of this report on the homeless so I can get some real work done.
