gothic hippie

A gothic hippie is precisely what the name implies. The exact combination of goth and hippie can vary widely based on the individual. In general, A gothic hippie is someone who believes in peace and love, embraces and strives to be one with nature and a higher energy (often-times through the practice of Paganism or some other New Age activity). These people generally also have a facination with history, praticularly the Middle Ages and the Victorian era. They tend to have a dark and cynical sense of humor and take very little seriously except for major issues (peace, love, social rights, ect...).

Stylistically A gothic hippy can look like either a goth or a hippy or some combination in between (think tie-dyed t-shirt with black fishnet underneath it and long dark hair)

Someone who listens to gothic music (especially more ethereal stuff), is into meditation and the pagan worship of nature and feels that people are stupid because they take things too seriously that aren't really worth it.
The highest goal of a gothic hippie is to trancend this world of materialism and pop-culture filth and achieve a higher form of enlightenment and inner peace.

gothic lolita

A style of dress in Japan, made popular by Mana of the now disbanded Japanese band Malice Mizer. Gothic lolitas are usually decked out in frills, lace, and girly stuff up to their elbows (of course, alot of black and gothicness is thrown in). Gothic lolitas flock to Yoyogi park in Harajuku on weekends to show off their fashon.

Miku got the cutest gothic lolita skirt at a thrift store the other day!

Gothic Rock

Music With A Dark Atmosphere and Morbid Lyrics. Was first use to describe bands like The Doors, The Velvet Underground, Leonard Cohen and The German Singer Nico in the late Sixties. why'll they were labeled gothic they werent goth they were more Proto-Goth and leventated more towards blues then modern goth rock which is more punk orientated. Modern Gothic Rock was born in the late seventies when punk bands like Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Bauhaus, Birthday Party and The Damned Experimenting With The Dark Atmosphere and Morbid Lyrics The Doors and The Velvet Underground Did a Decade Before, But Added a More Post Punk and New Wave Sound to It rather then The Psychedelic, Avant Garde and Blues Rock The Doors and The Velvet Underground Where Famous For. Goth Music like Acid Rock, Heavy Metal and Punk Created its own Subculture in the late Seventies and Early Eighties when Fans Of the Music starting dressing in all Black, Using Heavy Amounts of Makeup, Dyeing there Hair Black, Fans Of Victorian Era literature and had a weird obsession with B-Grade Horror Films.
Thoughtout the Eighties, Bands like The Banshees, The Cult, Sisters of Mercy, Southern Death Cult Brought Gothic Rock into the Mainstream. In The 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony The Cure Became The First Goth Rock Band To Be Inducted into the Hall of Fame. Lets Hope Joy Division, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and The Damned Joined them soon.

Question: Whos Your Favorite Gothic Rock Band?

gothic people

a close-knit artistic social group that desires darker and more ethereal emotions to be invoked. these emotions; morose, necromanticism, apocalyptic, sex, death, love, blood, lust, etc. help form the base from which this often misunderstood sub-culture operates from.

this contrasts to mainsteam society's emotional desires of optimism, safety, perky, pleasnt, poser, etc.

alternative and taboo world views, creative expression, and industrial/goth clubs are the heart of the Gothic People.

Gothic Emo

A contradiction in terms.

Emos are not gothic, and goths are not emo. They both sprang from the punk subculture, and they both wear a lot of black, but that's where the similarities end.

Gothic Emo - It's one or the other, folks.

Gothic Lolita

Popular style with the teens of Harajuku. There are two types main, EGL and EGA. This fashion was first started/popularized by Mana of the then famous band Malice Mizer that later disbanned. Gothic Lolita clothes have a sometimes very dark (as seen by Mana's clothing label Moi-Mem-Moitie) or sometimes very kawaii (demonstrated by Baby The Stars Shine Bright). The clothes sometime seem to have a fantasy world or Alice and Wonderland feel to them. The most popular Gothic Lolita magazine is a Japanese publication called The Gothic and Lolita Bible.

She donned a frilly bonnet, an apron, a lacy shirt, and a poofy skirt before stepping out of the house. Even though we knew what she was trying to dress like a girl in The Gothic and Lolita Bilbe, she still looked like a child.
