Adopt and Raise

A ROBLOX game filled with a bunch of kids who think these miniature looking pod babies are cute.

I swear to god, any time you join an Adopt and Raise game, you are bound to see about 2 families roleplaying in the chat. It gets so fucking annoying.

Some 9 year old: "I want to play Adopt and Raise!"
The same 9 year old: "Oh, look how cute that baby looks!"
Me: "Are you on drugs?"

Rona raise

Dec 31st 2019 someone in China ate a raw Bat, causing a global pandemic. Called Co-Vid19 or AKA the Corona Virus.
When it hit Canada in March of 2020 our nation shut down except for essential services like grocery stores, auto part suppliers, and delivery services. To keep these places operational and entice a traditionally lower paid work force to come in to work when the world needed them the most. Companies gave a temporary raise to those workers still showing up even if there was a potential risk to their health.

Worker: Hey Son are you coming to work on Monday?

Son: Of course I am, I got the Rona raise!

Rona Raise is slang term used to lighten the stress around a very serious situation, not to offend anyone.

Employer: Due to the Corona Virus out break we are giving everyone a temporary raise.

D-Raise

A term in poker, usually of the online variety. A D-Raise is when a player is the last player to act around the table after all other players have bet or called the existing bet, and instead of just calling or checking like everyone else and getting to the next card, the D-Raiser bets the minimum amount, causing the entire cycle of betting to have to repeat itself. It can be especially frustrating in games with a large number of players at a table.

Player 1: bets $100
Player 2: calls
Player 3: calls
Player 4: calls
Player 5: calls
Player 6: calls
Player 7: calls
Player 8: calls
Player 9: bets $5

Irish Raise

A job promotion that comes with more responsibility, but no pay increase. Often times the promotion comes with a title change, but not always.

Steve: "Congratulations on becoming the Chief of Wage Cage Quality Control, you must be able to afford organic produce now with that pay raise!"

Dave: "I wish! Unfortunately, it was an Irish raise"

alternative response:
Dave: "I wish, this new job is very Irish"

to raise cattle

(v.) to start beef with someone in a slow, brooding manner.

Compared to starting beef, raising cattle tends to be a more open and controlled grudge-holding process. It must be nurtured over a long period, like cattle on a farm, and can last several years.

Eventually, however, the grudge-holders may slaughter their cattle and convert it to beef. At this moment, they grudge-holders might begin tussling at a pre-game, heckling each other on campus, or fist-fighting in the middle of the quarterly marketing meeting.

Max: "I hate Erin."
Lou: "Time to raise cattle."
