Bootleg means an unofficial thing or copied could also be a illegal copy of things.

In the EDM scene means a remix that was done by an unpopular (usually beginner) artist for or after an event and distributed via their social network profiles. Since EDM is an intellectual property wasteland where any copyrighted sound gets edited one way or another and pretty much everybody famous borrows from somebody else since at least the early 2010, producing a track titled "Me - My song (Somedude Bootleg)" roughly means they want in on the industry as well and want to get famous. Many of today's popular DJs have realeased bootlegged remixes at least once in their lifetime.
"Yo, check out that Calvin Harris remix! Sick, right?"
"That's not a remix, that's someone's bootleg"
"But it's sick still?"
"It's yours, isn't it?"
Bootleg also refers to any service, rental or other business transaction that is performed without permits by the local authorities.
"The city wouldn't give us a permit to paint the mural on our building so we just bootlegged it anyway."
"Our bootleg apartment was super cheap but all it had for a kitchen was a hot plate."

A bootleg kit that's supposedly rare, but scalpers manage to have available everytime someone (a fool willing to part with money) looks for it. Sold usually at a very high markup, around 300%, to sometimes 500% of the initial price point. Sometimes, even more.
Randall NotAFool: How much did you get that Supernova Wing Zero Custom Prelude?
Eugene GotFooled: Got it for $100, and it's the lowest price EVER, since it's more than $200 at ShopPay.
Randall NotAFool: That's too expensive. You've been scalped!
Eugene GotFooled: No. I got it because it's a Reyr Bootleg Gumpra. The seller said so.
Randall NotAFool: That's not rare. That thing is always available whenever a fool like you looks around for it. Scalpers never run out of it.
