A term used to describe an unfortunate but ludicrous event in a casual manner. Commonly used as a descriptor or a reaction depending on the situation. Similar to "it is what it is".

The state of having so little money that you don't even live paycheck to paycheck; you live paycheck to a week before the next paycheck.
Also defined as completely not having enough money to pay necessary bills, yet being very much employed.
"Oh hey there! Yeah, sorry I couldn't make it to lunch the other day. Had to donate plasma again to pay my phone bill...and get gas. Had just enough left over to get two McChickens! Two!!"
