A FAN OF YOUTUBE

A boomer obsessed with YouTube. Claims to hate the platform, yet he refuses to log off. May drink coffee all day while he monitors the comments for trolls. Loves nothing more than making video responses just to gain attention. He is obsessed and jealous of YouTubers half his age. He’s a complete asshole but doesn’t understand that his own behavior is the reason no one likes him.

Would be suffering from Internet Addiction Disorder.

Disclaimer: This is most definitely not about the nobody YouTuber called A Fan Of YouTube.
Stephen thinks reading wrestling dirt sheets will make him a big YouTuber. Contrary to his username, Stephen is actually a massive fan of the YouTube platform. He is a 50 year old man whose lifelong ambition is to steal the viewers of a popular youtuber. For example— his hatred/obsession for Seanzviewent and Lipsy Jimmy.

Stephen is jealous of Sean’s success, and he doesn’t do a good job at hiding it. He is obsessed with YouTube and its content creators, and this is what makes him a fan of YouTube.

The Artisan Age of YouTube

Also known as the pre-influencer age of YouTube.

An umbrella term for both the Golden age (2005-2009) and Silver age (2010-2013) of YouTube.

When the only drama on YouTube was either family based, (I.e. Onision) openly staged for the audience entertainment (The Angry Video Game Nerd Vs. The Nostalgia Critic) or limited to one type of site (The 2008/9 Boxxy civil war on 4chan)

The time when creativity ruled, when Jenna Marbles, Nigahiga, Ray William Johnson, James Rolfe, Jacksfilms, Freddie Wong and Co., Fred, Shane Dawson and several others were around.

One million views on a view was considered the pinnacle of internet success.

Memes were more fun and the people who created them were often made famous by accident and had the creativity to make characters based on those memes (Overly attached Girlfriend)

The period started at the inception of YouTube (or arguably a year after) and ended when Video Game High School (made by Rocketjump, Freddie Wong's production company) released its last episode in 2014.

James: remember YTP videos?

John: yet that was the artisan age of youtube. Real artists who made cool stuff for fun and their audiences. I miss those times

James: yeh dude, simpler times. All we have today are influencers giving money while having it recorded for clout. Zero creativity now.

YouTube: Insanity Apocalypse

YouTube: Insanity Apocalypse is a predicted event that will result in the destruction or failure of YouTube. This is predicted with problems on YouTube such as the YouTube copyright system, unnecessary demonetization and stupid rules and guidelines. This event started in 2017 witht the problems of the YouTube copyright system. In 2018, the EU has successfully implemented Article 17 (formerly known as Article 15 and Article 13) and has now mainly demonetized the entire United Kingdom using copyrighted content. Now in 2019, a YouTuber named Steven Crowder made fun of a Vox journalist's sexuality. Due to this YouTube implemented "Creator-On-Creator harassment" which basically prevents YouTubers from criticizing each other and calling each other out. Due to this several channels have been demonetized such as #DramaAlert, Combat Wombat, TheTekkitRealm, Optimus, JT, Kodak Wk and many others. A YouTube commentary channel named Fainted has been terminated due to "harassment" even though it was a harmless video based on constructive criticism. Future predictions include the destruction of YouTube gaming.
