self-hating latino

a term, usually used by racists who are masquerading as "progressives" who are upset about Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election. for context; latinos shifted heavily right, especially in Florida and Texas.

the actual meaning is fucking coconuts. it implies that the accused hates their own race (wtf?), and only has their beliefs (usually socially conservative) due to that factor alone. the majority of latinos care about the economy, it is not out of left field for them to shift heavily either left or right.

this term is often used to deflect from actually analyzing the reasons as to why latinos are gradually shifting right (as of the mid 2020s) so heavily. this is often due to the person using the term being legitimately unable to comprehend how minorities care about more than just identity politics.

by the way, I am not trying to downplay the real self-haters out there, all I am saying is that its merely a hasty generalization to assume all latinos are like that.

Tl;DR, self-hating latino means a latino who hates their race, frequently misused by progressives.

emily says "I hope those self-hating latinos get deported"!

daniel says "finally going mask off now, huh?"

Latino

The word Latino is not to be confused with dumb people of spain, portugal or other european countries with latin languages like spanish or italian, who think they are latinos because of their language.

The word latino is used for people of latin america. "gringos" is the word who is used for white people like americans or europeans.

it isn't cool if you say, you are latino if you aren't of one of these countries:

brasil
bolivia
argentinia
venezuela
colombia
peru
ecuador
paraguay
uruguay
chile
puerto rico
cuba
panama
nicaragua
honduras
el salvador
guatemala
dominican republic
mexico

spanish: "i'm latino"
portuguese: "me to"

NO YOU AREN'T

Latino

Nowadays, the term Latino is used to describe somebody who originates from a Spanish-speaking country in Latino America.

Some things to take note about Latinos is that ANYONE can be Latino regardless of race, because Latino is an emphasizer of ethnicity. From a pale-skinned ginger from Mexico to a dark-skinned curlyhead from Puerto Rico, we are all Latinos whose land was colonized by the Spaniards.

(Except for the Guianas and Brazil because they were colonized by the Portuguese and British. As a result, they’re associated with South America, but not LATINO America)

Second note, no, Spaniards are not Latino. They are Hispanic because they’re also a Spanish-speaking country, but they are not Latino—they’re Europeans.

Third note, no, the French and the Italians and whoever else is European with Latin roots—they’re not Latino either! They are Latin, yes, but that is a separate term and they do not originate from Latino America. (Nor do they speak Spanish.)

Aaand that sums up a Latino.

Girl 1: “So, like… what are you?”

Girl 2: “Oh, I’m a Latino! I was born in El Salvador.”

Girl 1: “Oh? I thought you were White?”

Girl 2: “Well… that too. That makes me a White Latina.”

Girl 1: “Oh.”

Latino

A person born in Latin America, or that has heritage in Latin America. Latin America includes South America, Central America, and the 3 Hispanic-Caribbean Islands: Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic. ONLY people from Latin America are Latinos. Spaniards, Italians, and Portugues are NOT latino whatsoever. their languages are latin-derived, but they are not part of latin america, therefore, they are not latinos. the word Latino does NOT mean descendent of the latins from the roman empire; it literally means people from Latin America.

Latinos can be of any race and skin color. There are black latinos, white latinos, and indigenous latinos. There are also many mixed-raced latinos (mestizos, mulattos, afro-mestizos). many latinos descend from the African slaves brought to Latin America, the Spanish conquistadores, and/or the Indigenous peoples. many people of many different races have immigrated to Latin America throughout history; they too are Latinos. ex: Shakira is of Lebanese descent, but her family immigrated to Colombia, where she was born. she is an Arab Latina.

Person1: I'm Latino, my family is from El Salvador.

Person2: "I'm Latino too! I'm Italian."

Person1: "Italy is not in Latin America...you're not Latino"

Person2: "Are you serious?? I've been living a lie"
