Hyper Religious

This term is used to describe a person (usually of the Roman Catholic faith) who is obsessed with their religion. They are often highly annoying and will usually force their exact beliefs onto you. They turn more people away from Catholicism than they attract to it.

Their kids are often homeschooled and sheltered, usually given no internet access (or highly restricted internet access)

Their kids are only allowed to use electronic devices for short periods of time (if they even have devices)

They often get their devices taken for extended periods of time for doing completely trivial things.

They have as many kids as they can physically produce. (Usually somewhere in the double digits.)

Hyper religion is often passed down through generations. After hyper religious kids move out, they truly begin to realize just how sheltered they were, and how much they missed out on in life. Because of this, they try to take the fun away from everyone else.

Damn, do you see that hyper religious lady yelling frantically in the church parking lot? Our church is only going to lose members because of her.

Religious Nut

Official Definition from the United Church of Christ: "Religious nuts have ideas that are preposterous and meaningless to all but them. They carry a Bible (or other supposed authority) in their hands to proclaim their authenticity and are an embarrassment to the very words of that holy book".

Jesus was not a "religious nut". He never said to worship him, but merely be a good person and help others to enjoy a happy life. The scriptures venerate wisdom, reason, and above all, love and charity! Jesus wore a peasant's cloak and rode a donkey as a sign his humility. He wasn't a lunatic TV con artist in a $800K suit, sporting a $65M super-jet, and $200M mansion staffed with Playboy Bunnies !!!

A "Religious Nuts" don't fall far from the tree!

religious atheist

The religious atheist believes that life needs constant examination and evaluation, that the moral ideals taught by great teachers of ethics need constant attention and personal affirmation.

He doesn't go to church or believe in any one thing, but he studies a lot of that stuff, kind of a religious atheist.

Religious Nationalism

Religious Nationalism is a political ideology that incorporates religion into nationalism. This can be seen in many religions like Christianity, were you have god-fearing religious nut jobs who think the end is coming every year. Most of the people who subscribe to such doctrine are intolerant assholes who think secularism is taking away their rights and then proceeds to use their beliefs to take away the rights of others. Overall, they are the most unpleasant and hypocritical group in American politics. But, these people obviously exist outside American politics, like in India, were the caste system there has been largely defined by the Hindu nationalists and other religious groups that reside in the country. Many people who are incorporate religious nationalism into their beliefs are often fundamentalists who believe in the literal text of their books.

Person 1: Yo did you see that person who was forcing their beliefs onto others? He is a bit messed up in the head.
Person 2: Yeah, he might be one of those crazed religious nationalists. Religious nationalism is a disease, be careful.
