jealously is a drink best served warm

Puzzling words tweeted by Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, to throw shade on Mitt Romney’s scathing January 2019 opinion piece on President Trump.

Jealously is a drink best served warm and Romney just proved it.

you know what I mean...drink...

A phrase uttered so often a drinking game has been born. There are a few variations: 1)person speaking the offending phrase points to one person who must drink; 2)speaker decides everyone drinks; 3) peron forced to hear "you know what I mean" makes the speaker drink; Or 4) hell everybody drink everytime and soon you may be much happier to hear the fucking phrase again.

speaker: then I got pulled over, you know what I mean...drink...
listener: I will gladly drink to drowned out your non-stop bullshit.
or
speaker: blah, blah, blah, you know what I mean...
tortured listener: drink... bitch.
speaker: oh,yeah, ok. but I need another beer, you know what I mean...drink...
and on, and on, and on

Too Broke to Drink Too Drunk to Work

A state of being when one is too hungover to go to work, but is too broke to have being able to afford alcohol in the first place.

1. Rob: Is Tom coming in today? He is 3 hours late.
James: No, he called in. He is hungover.
Rob: I thought he was broke
James: He is! Maybe he sold his plasma TV for a 5th.
Rob: Too Broke to Drink Too drunk to work! Damn.

2. Jerry: Hey Tom, wanna get crunk tonight?
Tom: Hell yeah! I'll go turn in my pop bottles and forget my electric bill until next week! I've been dying to burn those candles!

Flat out like a lizard drinking

To be not busy.

As a visual metaphor, it implies the opposite to the expression ‘flat out’. A lizard drinking is visually flat against the ground, still, stationary, prostrate, prone and apparently inactive - the opposite of what a person is like when they are busy.

The primary definition that I heard for years amongst colleagues and friends fluent in Strine was the 'not busy' version. It was only recently that I have heard it used to mean 'hard at work' or 'busy'. It feels that the traditional components of visual metaphor and humour in the Strine lexicon have been lost or the expression misconstrued at some point.

Flat out like a lizard drinking -

"Man it's quiet here. You busy?"
“Busy? Flat out… like a lizard drinking… hehehe.”

kind of water we're gonna have to drink.

1. We have to face reality the way it is. 2. We'll have to face the consequences of what we have done. 3.We'll have to face the consequences as to what others have done. Source. You guessed it. Water pollution.

We've really messed up now and Dad is going to really be mad at us. I guess that's the kind of water we're gonna have to drink.
