Someone you is not your boyfriend or girlfriend but someone who lifts you up. They are probably more then a friend, but less than a boyfriend or girlfriend.

A "friend" who systematically tries to become friends with all you're friends by injecting themselves into your conversations, messaging your friends online or by generally licking your friends' asses. Ultimately, the leech will aggressively force itself upon one of your friends. This will result in your friend spending less time with you due to the leech sapping your friend's time, energy and even money.
There are some people who are naturally more resistant to the ill-effects of these leeches, such as unpopular people; however, the quickest and most effective way to prevent leeching will always be by immediate identification and outcasting. If you're a current victim of a friend leech, do not panic - there might still be time. Follow this one step:
1. Turn your friends off to the leech by telling them how annoying or undesirable of a person the leech is. It is important to provide good life experiences or lies for this step. This may immunize your friends from the leech's advances.
Q: But what if my friend is already in the process of being leeched or the immunization doesn't work?
A: Ask your friend what they think about the leech and try to encourage them to acknowledge annoying things the leech does (You may need to provide an example). Once you've found something the leech does that annoys your friend, irritate the situation further by getting the leech to do those things and then make fun of the leech with your friend either behind the leech's back or in its face.

A best friend is a person who means the most to you. You always think about them, and miss them when they aren't with you. You have inside jokes with them and a whole bunch of little things that are only significant to the two of you. You know each others family and practically live at each others house. You may call their parents 'mom' or 'dad'. This is the person you trust with your biggest secrets. You tell them anything and everything, and you think alike. This person understands you best, and gets you. You can talk on the phone for hours without even saying anything. You may go to the bathroom, take showers, or sleep while on the phone with this person. You love this person and all their faults, knowing that's what makes them who they are. You do everything together, and you don't need to worry about what they will think of you if you do this or that. They act crazy with you and have no problem looking mentally retarded with you. They might accidently ruin your stuff, or mess something up, but you just laugh because you love this person to death. You would take a bullet for this person, and they should come before boyfriends or girlfriends. They always consider your feelings, and they probably tease you a lot. You say mean things to each other because you find it funny. You may laugh at random things the normal person wouldn't. This person loves to be with you, and you are probably very similar. This is the person you're not afraid to say 'i love you' to, and sleep in the same bed with them. You may have known them since kindergarden, or since highschool. You just find this person fun, and loyal. Best friends are the best people in the world.

I would say she is almost like an exact copy of me. And even though she pees her pants on my bed, I still love her to death, and she is my favorite person in the entire world.

A good friend of a good friend. Even if you tend to hang out in the same circles often, this person would only qualify as more of an acquaintance.
Not someone you would desire to hang out with alone. Either because you only talk to the person large group settings and never really directly bonded, or because it's someone with whom you share nothing in common (other than a similar friend) and it would be awkward and uncomfortable to spend time alone together.
Most often it is a significant other's best friend.
"Nah, I don't see Megan anymore ever since Dave moved away. She was only a friend-in-law anyway."
