time out

An action taken by one friend towards another after being provoked past that individual's threshold or tolerance for annoyance, disagreement, or disrespect towards him/her. An Italian often has a much lower than normal tolerance for aggravation, and will prompt a "time out" by saying "Are you f---ing serious right now bro'?" or "How you gonna come off like that to me?". He will then place the friend (sometimes ex-friend) on "time out" for an indefinite time period, not talking, calling, nor returning phone calls. In extreme cases, the melancholy time-out-ee will try anything to get back together with his/her friend. The exchange of online, often sentimental, greeting cards are a popular option.

One Time

Police. See #1. You look at them one time. If you double take or look too long you might attract their attention. In doing so, with a cop with nothing better to do and if in their minds they suspect an ounce of fishy shit going on with you, expect to get followed for a bit so they can check your plates, pull you over and/or get talked to to see what's up with you.

A period of time where one is required to attend work but not actually do anything productive whatsoever. Also known as a complete waste of time.

Something that occurs within 4 hours of the time originally stated it would. This expression originated in Belize, a country in which nobody on time due to a relaxed, no-rush lifestyle.
