Metal snob

A person who only listens to metal and feels passionate that this is the best genre of music. They dislike other forms of music because of the simplicity of the instruments, bad singing, or just plain fail.

Normal music fan: You should really like the Jonas Brothers, Lady Gaga, or American Idol. Death metal is scary...only metal snobs listen to it.
Metalhead: Listen to music with real instrumentals. That's only metal music of course. Most other music isn't even as talented and will never come close.

Metal Head

Okay, as a true metalhead I have to tell you..
METAL does NOT = 'GOTH'
Gothic music is Gothic metal & Black metal. Cradle of Filth is Black metal. They are 'goth'.

A metal head cannot be classified. Metal defeats all racial and economic boundaries in almost everywhere in the world.
Example.. I used to sit at a table in highschool with the 'rich jocks' at the time and we'd listen to Pantera together.
Were they Goth? No.. did'nt they have piercings or wear baggy ass pants you ask? No. Piercings and baggy pants dont qualify you for 'Goth' either, you have to LIVE 'Goth'.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you don't HAVE to look or dress any way to like metal, or be a metal head. People that dress a certain way, do, because they want to.
Metal is a movement and thus is very dynamic.
All these stereotypes hurt the Metal scene by trying to single us out and make us the minority. People however are going to have to come to terms with the fact that everybody has a will of their own. The people doing the labeling are the ones that perpetuate the stereotypes. Why should people that know nothing of our culture be allowed to generalize us so? You may be sick of us, but we've BEEN sick of you, society and the bullshit games it plays. If you think we look pissed all the time, you just may be on to something there..

Deathmetal = Cannibal Corpse, Old Fear Factory, Nile, Deicide.

Metal = Fullblown Chaos, A Perfect Murder, Chimaira, Old Sepultura.

Black Metal/Goth Metal = Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Hammerfall.

Fallout Boy Kid: Dude you metal heads listen to your shitty noise way too loud!

Metal Head: So what, thats how we do it! Atleast I'm not blasting Fallout Fags. Why don't you go put on some womens clothing and cry about how your middleclass suburban life is so terrible.

heavy metal

an overrated type of music whos fans think that the technicality of the music is all that matters and automatically makes the music better than some less technical music
:
these metalheads also badmouth power chords but don't realise that metal wouldn't even exist if it weren't for power chords
:
metalhead: "Nirvana and Green Day and Offspring suck because they only use power chords and anybody can do that"
:
me: "Yeah erm , you do realise that the first metal band Black Sabbath was all power chords , right?
I suppose then that Korn and Slipknot are better than Black Sabbath then, huh? And I suppose a retarded monkey on crack could have written Zep's A Whole Lotta Love too, right?"
:
punk walks away...

heavy metal fans are sometimes funny with how pigheaded they can be

hair metal

Hair metal is a term that was coined in the 1990s, but in it's heyday in the '80s it was called "glam metal." It emerged in the mid and late '70s with bands like KISS, Van Halen, Def Leppard, etc. However, disco and the singer soundwriter era dominated that era until 1981 when MTV came out and drowned our TVs with New Wave and punk rock. It wasn't until '83 when Quiet Riot's "Cum on Feel the Noise" topped the charts, bringing "hair metal" into the mainstream.. Bands like Iron Maiden, Ratt, Motley Crue, etc. At the same time, the bands in the LA scene from the sunset strip would make it big in the mid and late '80s. From the late '80s into the beginning of the '90s, hair metal became saturated with power ballads, alcoholism, and problems within the bands. The hair metal power ballad dominated the charts from 1986 through 1991. Then all of a sudden, an unknown band from an underground scene in Seattle launched this one particular song in late 1991 that changed the rock scene forever... By 1992, hair metal fizzled away....

"Hair Metal=Jack Daniels, parties, women, panties, fame"

"Kick-ass scene in '85, lame-ass power ballads and excessive drinking in '90."
